Thanks everyone for chiming in!
@TurtleDoves: This is a picture of her skin this afternoon-definately the worst it has ever been. I am definately going to make the diet changes. After looking at her poor skin today I have to do something.

@Mrs. Jacks: That was a great posts. I am definately checking out therecipe links.

@MamaMoose: this too. I agree that the more you ignore it and the more dairy they have, the worse the symptoms get.

Eliminating dairy for the next 2-3 weeks should get you the results you need, because it takes that long for dairy to leave your body entirely. Or you can be quick about it and just pump for a few days while giving them hypoallergenic formula. If Lo react well to it, that means you need to go on a dairy-free (& soy free) diet.

Other than extreme fussiness/colic
My LO had terrible rashes and a clear mucus in his stool. I thought it was runny-ness from the fact that he was breastfed, but it turned out to be clear mucus inside and within his stools.

Below is a picture of the day we took him to the ped to get diagnosed for DI & a picture only 3 days later after he was fed the hypoallergenic formula. Look at the difference in the clarity/color of his skin! Poor guy was swollen & red at the peak of his dairy reactions. I quickly got my beautiful baby back after removing dairy entirely from both mine & his diet.

My LO developed a dairy allergy so we are dairy-free with her.

When my LO was a baby, she also developed eczema (red, raw cheeks) and dry hands and wrists. And it didn't help that she was super drooly to exacerbate her raw skin. I am unsure, though, if her dairy allergy had anything to do with it.

We found out about her allergy at 8 months.

I'm so glad you asked this and I'm going to follow this post. LO is 5 weeks old and having all of the same symptoms you are seeing. Only thing different is that some of his poops are bright green (but still seedy so the dr told us not to worry.) He gags a lot through the night and freaks me out. Was also thinking of going dairy free to see if that helps.

@mrsmenow: sounds like reflux, silent reflux actually. My daughter has it & she's fussy and you can hear the spit up coming up and her swallowing it back down. Maybe ask your pedi his opinion?

@MamaMoose: That is what I am afraid of. Now everything seems so questionable, but I would hate to wait and have it get worse.

@mrsmenow: we think LO has food intolerances (still eliminating things to try to identify the culprits) and your LO has a lot of the same symptoms. My daughters stools didn't get really bad until 5 weeks because they can react more and more as the offensive food builds up in your system over time.

That is a cat, but not mine. I wish DH would let me get a huge fat cat, but he won't (he actually told me he was allergic to cats, when he is not just so I wouldn't get one).

She is actually a terrible burper. Out of all the babies I have ever burped she is the worst burper.

I'm not sure and don't really have advice, but does she burp well?
Also, off topic, but is that a cat in your profile picture?!

I keep going back and forth on if I really think DD is dairy intolerant. I know there are some mama experts here and wanted to run this by you all and see what you think.

Reasons I think she might have a problem:LO is EBF and is 4 weeks old. She has been a great eater since day 1. for the past 2 weeks she has been getting progressively fussier after eating. She is content and 5-10 minutes later screaming and wincing in pain. Nothing really seems to help her pain-burping between sides, gas drops. her Up until the past couple days she hasn't spit up at all and now she does, but not in a large amount. She has times where you can tell she was gagging or about to spit up and swallows it.Her skin is also getting really bad, she has areas that I think are baby acne and then areas that are more welt like. She is really stuffy, she has always had issues with mucus.

Reasons I am still not sure: Her stools are still yellow. They are explosive, but not mucusy or bloody. She doesn't fuss after every meal, I would say she fusses after about 60% of her meals. And her rash is only on her face and chin, nothing on her body.

So all in all I am not really sure either way. What do you mamas think> I have done quite a bit of reading already, but any good resources are always appreciated!
