Both my neighbours do it - one works for a telecom company but I’m not sure what he does, and the other does something in corporate efficiency. I don’t think I could handle it, I would miss having face to face contact with colleagues.

I don’t but I have friends in sales who do and in HR, marketing, and consulting who do.

The people that have this arrangement in my company are usually the ones that had to relocate for one reason or another and had some kind of special expertise. I work from a satellite location three days a week and it's great, but the arrangement occurred because of my skill/expertise and long work history with the company.

If you asked, what do you think they'd say? Are they set up to accommodate it? I feel like there are still some people around that really value face time and just haven't gotten on board with a decentralized model yet. It helps if teams are all over the place (the people I work with are spread out all over the globe, so it's really hard to make the argument that you need to be in one location to make it work).

DH currently works from home 2 days a week and is now probably going to switch to full time. He’s in real estate finance. I’m worried he will be too isolated here- I’m home with the kids but have established a network of friends so we usually go out and see people every day. He will be alone in his office working every day. But he also travels at least a week a month. He sees pros and cons- especially not having any commuting costs. I’m also worried about the line between work life and home life being blurred even more.

But he is only being given the chance to work from home all the time because he has been at the company for many years. If he was a new hire they definitely wouldn’t.

I was in sales and worked from home/visiting clients. I just had to go to the office on Friday mornings for a meeting.

@wrkbrk: maybe! It’s an immigration law firm that is trying to automate some of the document filing to make their jobs easier/more efficient. They’ve invested quite a bit of money into all the tech stuff!

I just recently was introduced to flexjobs.com. I can't believe I didn't find it in my last job search! I'm looking to go remote with my next job as well. Couple years out though.

I do, but the role was created for me after I worked for the company for 5+ years and then moved away. I’m also only part time, although the company would probably be fine with me going full time. It’s a precision manufacturing company and I am working in quoting right now.

I work for the federal government. I'm at 80% telework normally, but am on 100% now. I have several coworkers who are 100% telework. I honestly love it. My boss asked if I wanted a desirable cubicle and come in 4 days a week. I literally replied "LOL. My windows at home are bigger and I get to wear leggings". She teleworked 70% and got the ridiculousness of the question.

It’s not exactly the same, but I’ve been self-employed, WAH for the past 8 years. I do translation and it’s a field where a large majority of people WAH/remotely. Your job sounds like something that could convert to a remote position fairly easily. I would ask about it at work and see if there are any opportunities, or ask about doing it 2-3 days a week to start. Or start looking around to see if you can change companies.
