My son is huge. He will be 18mo this weekend, and when I put him on our bathroom scale a few days ago, it read 32.2 lbs. I just realized that our Combi Coccoro has a max rear-facing weight of 33 lbs. I'm not sure how tall he is but I bet he's close to the max height as well.
Should I front face him, or should I buy another seat with a higher RF limit?

Same exact thing happened to us. We replaced it with a different seat and saved the Coccoro for our second LO.

Depends on what you are comfortable with. I moved my boys forward facing.

What are the FF limits on it? If you are going to have to buy a new seat eventually anyways, I would go ahead and buy a new seat now so you can stay RF.

I'm a big proponent of rear-facing as long as possible, and the current suggestions are to rear-face until 2, if not longer, so I would get a new seat to continue rear-facing.

@T.H.O.U.: Yes, I just realized this. The seat has a max FF weight of 40lbs. Given that he is currently off the charts for weight, I doubt he will make it to 4yo before reaching 40lbs. So, we may as well just get a new seat now and keep him RF.

Given the FF limits you just posted, I agree on just getting a new car seat instead now. Looks like you'll need to in a few months any how!

@ElbieKay: We had the same issue and bought the foonf with the higher RFing requirement. I wasn't ready to FF. even now with the combi as a backup for my mom, were realizing that she's so tall, she's probably going to grow out of the whole seat around 3! So it was a must that we got a new seat at some point anyway.

It depends on how strongly you feel about rear facing. If you would like to follow the recommendation to RF until 2, get a new seat. If you are okay with turning him now, go for it.

Alright, we ordered a convertible Recaro last night. My husband wanted to get the car seat that is made by the racecar seat designer. He really wanted to get the FF-to-booster version, but we compromised and got the convertible so we can RF for awhile longer. We'll just have to buy a separate booster seat in a few years.
