Little Miss Miss' first birthday is approaching faster than I'd like to admit. I've sorta started to think about her first bday party. Not sure if we want to keep it small with just fam, do something medium and invite other babies in that age range, or do it up big.
Anybody else starting to party plan?

I've started to think about it too! I can't believe they're closer to being 1 than they are to just getting here!
We'll be doing something medium- family and some friends. We're going to do it in our backyard and I haven't thought of a theme yet.... I'm kinda considering a You Are My Sunshine theme but I'm not sure.

My niece is an October baby. They're going to have a little pumpkin theme and have the kiddos paint pumpkins

I don't know.....I just don't even know. It's too soon for my liking.
I want to have something small but I know how I am: I will probably end up going wild. I am making some restrictions though:
It must be at home
Our house is big enough and if we rented a place: things would get out of hand quickly. It would be like a mini wedding

@artbee: I wanted to take her pumpkin picking but I wasn't sure if 1 was too young.
@TurtleDoves: I'm trying so hard to be rational and not go overboard. I was thinking I wanted to do a carousel ride for a my little pony theme. I could see it getting out of hand real quick. That's why I'm torn between small and at home or something bigger.

I already think I'm going to get too ambitious... Since I'm going to be 8 months pregnant ill probably have to reign myself in haha.

I think we'll do a medium size party but it could easily get out of hand.
I have been thinking about themes - just so I can get stuff over time. I think I might do a purple ombré theme? I can also see doing something at the pumpkin patch.

@katsupgirl: I took my lo to the pumpkin patch when she was an infant and had no clue, and when she was a toddler at 15 months. Even then all she wanted to do was walk around and had no interest in pumpkins..... But it's still fun.

I've started to think about it recently. If we had it at our house, it would have to be real small so we may end up renting a place or having it at my moms or grandma's house. More likely, I'm thinking about having it at a park. I'm goin to do my best to not overdue it. I really liked a lot of mrs tic tac toe's ideas, so we may end up doing something like that. I'd like to keep it medium sized. Family and close friends. Omg I can't believe we're talking about this already.

YAY for this thread! I have definitely already started thinking about his first birthday!
I want to invite both sides of the family and close friends with kids - i think it might be a fairly medium affair, but we're already thinking it could be around 30+ people.
I want to rent a place, just put in a call this morning to an apple orchard/winery that is nearby that I thought would be fun for kids & adults!
Sooooo many ideas - can't wait to see what everyone does!

We will likely have a medium size party at home. I am not sure yet though because our family lives all over the place. I am thinking a Dinosaur themed party. :))

is it sad to admit I've had a pinterest board started for about 4 months now We are doing a medium sized party, with family and friends with kids. Right now I'm leaning toward a vintage circus theme, in pale pink and yellow.

@katsupgirl: i still love this idea but the place I called got back and it was crazy expensive. the part we could afford could only do a max of 22 people, so now we have to decide if we want to invite less people & do this place, or find a different venue that can take more people.

I've started pricing different carousel options for a my little pony party. I've tentatively worked up a guest list. We don't really know a lot of babies but I don't want to invite people just to invite people.

how is planning going? @Running Elley: pic on IG got me thinking about it again and wondering what everyone else is doing.
I think we have a date and location. Not sure about a time and I'm not sure who to invite. I would like to keep it small but then feel like I might hurt people's feelings by not inviting them. I don't really have a theme. I was just thinking of doing primary colors or something. Similar to what Mrs. Tic Tac Toe did. We're going to have it at my grandma's house.
What time are all you planning for? I was thinking 11 am and doing brunch food.

@mrskc: there are a bunch of carousels in the area. I was thinking of the one in the park closest to our house. You can have a party during public hours. We'd pay for everyone to have unlimited rides. If we do that we'd schedule it for 12:15-2:15. The 2:45 start time seemed too late for October.
Idk if I'll really do it. She was a bit scared when we took her on one last week.
In other news, I have these credit card sized Polaroids (weekly pics) I'd like to display!showcase but don't know how. I average 3 for each weekly shot.

@mrskc: I'm torn on a party, mainly because I dont know who I would invite--if I would just do family, do family and close friends, or family, close friends, plus mommy friends and kids. If we do all of them, that's a lot of ppl! But I feel bad not inviting them because I know they're inviting us.

I just made up our invite list - 53 people (16 are babies/kids). Probably only 40 will show up. I don't want to a bunch of different parties. I think we are just going to do a park near our house from 2-3:30 and do some light snacks + cake.
Because I'm obsessed, the theme is shades/patterns of purple!
Can't wait to really get rolling with the planning!

Ok ladies I think I am going to do a party for L...I found a place by our house that is not expensive and would have room for everyone (it's looking like we'll invite 50 adults and about 12 kids--eek). I think I want to do a balloon theme, like this. I'm starting to get excited! Of course, I need to discuss with DH first, not sure how he'll feel about doing a big party!

We are planning two smaller birthday parties for N because my family lives in one place and DH's family live in another place. I am pretty excited about both parties. I will share a couple of my pinned ideas once I get home.

I'm loving hearing about all these parties . We're likely having a pool party for Em on the Saturday following her birthday (19th). We're having a hell of a time finding her a really nice princess bathing suit though.

@hilsy85: LOVE it!!! I just was searching out this post since I've been working on J's party... I don't think that is weird at all. I love the idea of doing a big party. Why not?! I'm doing something similar...I rented a barn at an orchard/pumpkin patch up here to have a party on his actual 1st birthday since it's a saturday at the end of October.
We're inviting about 65 people - about 22 kids and 43 adults - yikes. Whatever, that's why we rented a space.... The place will be doing pumpkin picking/decorating, games and hayrides for the kids, and we'll be serving food and adult beverages for the adults! I think i'm going to do a spiked hot cider, plus beer/wine... It's just for 2 hours but i'm so excited.
I think i'm going to order invites from TinyPrints -- I want to do a photo, planning on shooting pics of J all weekend long, or maybe using this one, but I like these 2 invites, what do you think:

@hellobeeboston: so cute!!! I love them both, I would pick based on which one you think you could do more decor with--like would you rather do rainbow-y decor like the first invitation? Or stuff with chalkboards like the 2nd? Both are adorable though!
So now I'm thinking maybe to do a little lion party (Leo....lion...too cheesy?). Nothing overly theme-y--this invitation and the this color scheme:

@hellobeeboston: OMG! pumpkin patch birthday sounds so awesome! Sounds like it's going to be an awesome party!!! I was thinking about doing pumpkin decorating at A's party too. I figured it would be the perfect favor for the kids. I love that first invite! I like that it's colorful!

I was just looking for this post, I've been working on E's party quite a bit the last month! I have games made, decor bought, and going to be making buntings this weekend. This is the invite I just ordered, we invited 26 Adults & 12 kids, I'm expecting 22 adults & 10 kids to show up. We decided on more of a vintage canrival theme than circus (no animals.) I've made a couple different games: ring toss, bean bag game, bucket toss, and we will have a bounce house. We decided on 4 pm so we can do dinner/cake after nap time and after my sister gets off work.

Yeah - still torn on colors... I either want to go with chalkboard & reds - or lots of color. I still need to get the right outfit for a photo I think... He's just in a tee in this one at my parents.
@mrskc: yes! Pumpkin favors will be so cute! I was thinking about getting some 'thing' that the kids can put their pumpkins in, or something to go along with it, we will see.
