...with a two year old.
For those who live there or have visited, what should we do?! We will be there Friday afternoon to Saturday afternoon. Would love any recs for fun activities or delicious meals.

@Mrs. Confetti: bumping this thread because that'll be us on Friday...with a 13 month old! What'd you end up doing?
We're stopping there on the way to HHI (can't check into the house until late Saturday!) and I've never been so I want to make the most of Saturday.

My parents live in savannah. There's a fun splash pad downtown. For places to eat my favorite is Pink House. LOVE that place!!! I'll be in savannah the month of august.

I heart Savannah! I'd typically tell you to take one of the trolly tours, but that I know sitting for awhile with a mobile LO is sometimes out of the question. But if you do have the time (and the patience to hold the baby), The Old Time Trolly Tour is our favorite. Other than that, just walk around. There are so many squares and things to see everywhere. Take a stroll along the river (lots of shops and restaurants).
The splash pad is awesome and there's sometimes live music in the area. Our favorite restaurants (in no particular order): Vic's on the River, The Olde Pink House, B Matthews Eatery (DELICIOUS breakfast/brunch), Belford's Steak and Seafood, and Garibaldi's. YUM!! If you see apricot flounder on the menu, GET IT. I dream about it!
We live about 2-3 hours from there and go as often as possible. I love Savannah!

@Mrs. Taco: We were also there on a Friday/Saturday before going to HHI. Best kid-friendly brunch ever here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/b-matthews-eatery-savannah
Their kids menus come on Berenstein bears books, which was adorable, and it was the best kid centric service I have ever had at a restaurant (plus the food for adults and kids was AMAZING). It's right near the river, so we ate there in the morning and then walked along the river - there is a cute little boat shaped sandbox that C loved.
I would NOT recommend Lady and Sons - Paula Deen's restaurant, unless you make your reservation MUCH earlier than you plan to actually sit down and eat. They were running insanely behind (which I learned was a frequent occurrence) and the hostess was not honest/forthright about wait times. Once we did sit, our food was good but not exceptional.

First stop = Wet Willies (my personal rec is Chocolate Thunder). You will be prepared for anything after that, and you will be on River Street. Enjoy!

@Mrs. Confetti: I seriously still think about B Matthews Eatery and the crab cake benedict I had there. It was outstanding.

@Smurfette: boo! We need to plan a mommy only St. Patty's Day Savannah trip...no babies and no healthy food!

I used to live in Savannah! But before kids, so not super helpful.... It's a beautiful place. I loved walking around the historic homes and looking at them.
