It wouldn't matter, I could be in a hotel down the street. I'm gonna spend the whole time in bed watching movies, eating takeout and sleeping.

This sounds like my nightmare! Ahahaha. I am not a fan of traveling by myself unless I'm meeting friends/family along the way! 4 days alone is not something I would enjoy all that much. I'm probably the odd person out about this though!

Yes a beach! Somewhere tropical....a book, some water, a drink. Man. Heaven

@birdofafeather: me either. I'd be so bored if I didn't meet up with someone.
But definitely the beach always the beach

Some kind of spa someplace beautiful where I can have a massage every day.
Or like @kiddosc: anyplace with a comfortable bed, good cable, good books, and no toddler to wake me up.

Same as @kiddosc. I don't care where it is as long as I'm alone with a comfy bed and access to movies and food.

Loving these responses! I was trying to decide between beach and Iceland (drastic opposites, ha!) but all the talk of sleeping / reading / sun has me convinced in that direction!

Anywhere with a beach, drink service, good food, hammocks, floating in warm water. If they have those beds on the beach like I saw at an all inclusive I may never go home.

Totally by myself? I'd go to NYC for 4 days! Room service, shopping, museums, restaurants... I would get bored and lonely at the beach or an all inclusive by myself!

@Pepper: sign me up for NYC too! When I'm alone, I love being able to walk around and explore and see and do different things.

Yoga retreat, or somewhere tropical by the sea with good views and spa treatments...

I'd go to a small town with a nice hotel and good food - I'd spend my time walking, reading, shopping, sleeping, etc. I'm jealous!!!

I haven't been in forever so maybe Paris? Sleep in, Lots of spa treatments and pastries and coffee and shopping. Lovely dinners with good wine. Then lay in bed and watch tv till I pass out.
Wow that sounds so amazing, maybe I'll do it sometime. Maybe next year for my 35th

Somewhere tropical. Lots of naps by the pool/ocean. Reading. Drinks. Food.

@SweetiePie: Haha I know, traveling alone is weird to some but I love it! DH and I just decided that this year we'll each take a 4 day trip, either by ourselves or with friends, whatever we choose. It's not such a pain for childcare if only one parent is gone, and 4 days is not a huge amount of time. I have a feeling we may just do this every year if it goes well!

@HappyBaker: I've taken a couple of long weekends with friends and it's great! I'm going on a spa weekend in Palm Springs with two of my best friends later this month. I can't wait, BUT its not the same as a whole weekend alone.
But I've always been a loner. I need my alone time or I go crazy. i do a few hours here and there, but a whole 4 days? That is the dream, man!

A yoga retreat somewhere warm sounds like heaven! Traveling by myself, not so much... Lol

Yeah, I'm with @Pepper: and @lamariniere: Sign me up for NYC. The beach alone would be nice for like a day or 2, but then I think I'd get bored. I'd rather have a place to explore. And Broadway shows to see.

@HappyBaker: Iceland is beautiful and very peaceful, I loved it! I loved hiking to and relaxing in the natural hot springs.

I'm a home body and I only travel by myself for work. So I pretty much stay in the hotel when I'm on business trips alone. When I travel, I like to know where I'm going so I'm not the type to just drive aimlessly... Unless I'm pissed and need to get some space. I don't like going to big cities alone. I can drive through the city if I had to. I could kill time by doing some shopping. I could, however, drive from food place to food place. I don't mind eating alone.
If I had to think of one place to relax at alone, it would be somewhere in Alaska or some place where I could see the Northern lights. Iceland sounds nice but the long flight there would feel isolating.
I do love the beach and hanging out in the pool but I need someone with me (a friend or DH)... At least for a few days. I could do a few hours at the hotel pool to relax after a business trip.
Oh, I could do a yoga retreat or something.
