I stole a bottle of green nail polish from the dollar store when I was 5 or 6. My parents never found out and I was so ashamed I wouldn't even use it. I threw it out. That was the end of my career as a child thief lol.

I don't recall ever stealing anything, but that doesn't mean that I haven't wanted to.

I've never actively stolen anything. But if I'm at the grocery store or target and I notice the cashier didn't actually get something with the scanner I don't point it out to them. Does that count??

Oh man. I was such a stupid kid. Mom and I were in the hardware store (locally owned) and I thought the colorful rubber things that you put on keys to tell them apart were pretty. I took a handful and we left the store. I stashed them under the car seat but Mom found them. She made me walk back in with them and apologize for taking them. I don't know who was more embarrassed, her or me.

If my LO ever stole something, I'd do the same thing. You take it back and apologize. Now, when they get older, I don't know. I worry about that.

I never stole at a store but I have taken a hair clip from my moms friends daughter while playing at their house. I then were it in my hair later that evening - not a very smart thief. My sister stole a couple times when she was young. The cashier at the deli caught her once and I think I might've ratted her out the other time.

I don't remember ever stealing anything but I do remember my little brother taking a piece of gum out of those jars by the counter at a gas station & my parents had me march him back in there with his 5 or 10 cents to pay for it haha

My husband just chimed in because I asked & he said that once he asked his mom if he could have a piece of candy & he thought she nodded yes but then when she saw he had it in the car she freeeeaked out & scared him because she had actually been shaking her head no or just ignoring the question. He said he agrees it is a punishable offense but let the kid talk first & then explain why & then punish them haha

I have when I was pretty young and it was mostly because the people I was with were doing it and never got caught... I felt horrible and still do actually. If I caught my daughter stealing the first steps would be to make her return it and apologize then depending on if there were multiple occurances there would be more severe punishment.
