    @Torchwood: I haven't gotten it, but I think it's hilarious! If I wasn't worried about hiding it from K, I'd order it!
    I finally finished this monster page!

    @Mrs. Oatmeal: Yeah, I wanted to get it for my SIL and cousin, but they have 5yo's. It's extra awesome because the artist is English, so it has all this British slang.

    @Bao: Those crabs look like they're just a really cool scrapbook paper print. Hard to believe it's all hand colored! ETA- That makes it sound like I'm skeptical. Just impressed!

    I'm jumping onboard finally. Finished my first page! I definitely need to invest in better pencils or try markers to see how I like them instead.

    Can I get some input on color choice? The top right and bottom right are the same, so bright blue with dark green. But I can't decide what to do on the top half. Orange or pink would be pretty, but that'd be a lot of either of them. Same with yellow. Dark green would be a bit boring, but maybe the most logical choice. Any thoughts?

    @Torchwood: hmm I think any color would be fine! I struggle with color choices so I'm not much help lol

    Did anyone see Young House Love just posted about their new interior design coloring book? You can preorder but you'll have to wait til October to get it. Excited and a bit sad I have to wait that long for it.

    @Bao: I know you posted these a while ago, but how did you get so good?!?! They are AMAZING! Did you watch some videos or use better pencils?

  18. Bao

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts

    @simplyfelicity: aww thank you! I started off with just markers and then I would look at other peoples work and decided to try out colored pencils (prismacolor) and then I practiced with shading and went from there. YouTube videos help! So last summer to now:

    @simplyfelicity: or IG has short little videos if you search Johanna basford or adultcoloring, things like that. Super helpful too!

    @Bao: My husband is an artist and in art school he used prismacolor colored pencils. They are great quality. Wonderful job on yours!

    @Mrs. Pickles: for me, it depends on the book/detail. For Secret Garden, I like pencils because you can use a sharp tip to get in small areas.

    I have a mandala book my aunt gave me and I like the brightness of markers. And since it's not as detailed, it doesn't matter if the markers aren't as pointy

    @Mrs. Pickles: I like colored pencils because you can do different shades.

    I'm not 100% pleased with a couple spots, but I think this is my favorite I've done. Kinda wishing I'd gone reds instead of blues and made a phoenix though!

    @Torchwood: That's really pretty!

    I have a book by the same artist and enjoy her level of detail. I find it less stressful than the Secret Garden, but intricate enough that I like the end product.

    @MaryM: Thanks! I definitely like the style of this one because it's so forgiving. If I mess up odds are you'll never know! I get too nervous with Secret Garden that I'll mess it up.

    I just got gifted a coloring book so I'm re-viving this!

    I want to use markers i/o pencils. Any recommendation of fine tip markers that won't bleed? Or that doesn't exist?
