Thanks for sharing. However, for those of us mommies dealing with more serious diagnoses than autism, this kind of article reinforces the norm that we have to shut up and always put on a happy face about the difficulties our children will go through for the rest of their lives. Just another perspective.

@beaker: I do think that there are situatio a where more support may be needed or wanted. Every person is different but I do think the knee jerk reaction of pity can sometimes be hurtful to people. There's a balance to be found.
