@sorrycharlie: I hear you! I'm actually younger than you! DH is 24 and I am 21. I find that since we are young, we have no other friends who are married or have LOs and thats why I need the bee for advice! I do have one friend with an LO but she lives back home and I don't get to see her often. We found out about LO 9 months before our wedding, but honestly I don't think we would have waited much longer after being married. We moved our wedding day up and now we are settled in with our DD. I wouldn't want it any other way, I couldn't imagine life without her. We don't have tons of money but we adjust to how we live so I can stay home with her. We make enough to pay our bills and for now thats good enough...

I'm 22 and DH is 23 We got married in June and we've been together almost 6 years.

We both have degrees in education and have student loans. I'm starting online grad school to get my Master's in Early Childhood Education (I'm a preschool teacher!). I live in the South so we typically get married/have kids at a younger age, but still, a lot of my close friends (who aren't married) tell me over and over to not have kids yet. I read in a thread the other day that they are projecting their wants/lifestyle onto me and I'm trying not to be sensitive about it, but its so annoying!

I'm glad to see some more early-20's in here!

I'm in my late 20s now, but I was 25 when I got pregnant with my first child. We only had about $1,000 in savings, didn't own a house (and still don't) and didn't have rock star jobs either. But life goes on. things change, and we're happy with what we have now (which, despite having a child, is much more than we had then.)

There's nothing wrong with renting with children if it makes more sense for your financial position now. And if you feel ready emotionally, and have at least enough money to live comfortably and provide for a family financially, then that's about as ready as you can be.

Sometimes you just have to remember that it's your life. There is no competition- it's all about what makes you happy (until you have your kids- then it's all about what makes them happy!) Just because you have a different plan than your friends doesn't make one better than another, it just means different things make you happy and you have different priorities. Embrace yours, don't worry about theirs.

We're young! I'm 22 and DH is 25. I graduate with my BA in May and right now I stay home (yay vacation!) Oh and we will have to pay off my student loans sometime in late 2012. We do own a home, though my FIL lives with us! Some people probably think we're to young to start a family, but it is what we both wanted.

My husband and I are 24 and renting so that I can stay home once we have a baby. We're in very similar positions We have been going crazy to pay off all debt and have substantial savings before that time, but that said we are currently TTC.

Me, me! I'm 22.

I married an older guy (11 years older than me) and we're in a stable place financially - plenty of savings but we're still not settled in one place. We're actually moving to China in a couple of weeks for his job!

But, because hubs is older he's not keen on the idea of waiting to have babies so we're trying now and will just go along with whatever happens whenever it happens!

I am almost 24 and my husband is almost 25. We are kind of in a weird NTNT phase of ttc. We have income coming in from both of us and no debt, so we are set other than DH finishing his PhD. We are currently renting, but that is because we will only be here for another 2.5 years. We plan on buying a house when we move to our new location.

we're in exactly the same boat! we're both 23, too. we're not going to own a home for a long time, i'm sure. i'm a photographer, and he's got a job in radio, so we're definitely not making a whole lot -- especially in comparison to the ladies on the bee. i definitely feel in the minority here sometimes, so i'm glad i'm not alone!

We are both 21, been married for six months.
We have very little money, but we also have no debt. I know it would be easier if we had a little more money, but we will NEVER have a lot of money because of the type of work we do (we work overseas with non-profits doing charity work). So why wait for years when we plan on being in the same situation then as we are now?
That said, we are forcing ourselves to wait until March to start TTC because we are changing job postings, and we don't want to deal with an international move (even though we are very used to them) while pregnant.
