Ramzi's method is not a valid gender predictor. The nub theory is (and is backed up by multiple studies!) if you get a good midline image of your baby around 12 weeks and want to find out via early ultrasound.

As to your actual question, it does appear that the placenta is forming on your left side. Especially if your sonographer told you it was on the left, I'd go by what she said.
