I was an elementary teacher in my pre sahm life with certification in K-6 and I'm thinking of adding a reading or special education endorsement in the next few years before I return to work (eventually I'd love both, but I'm not sure if that's financially possible!).

I'd love to hear from special education teachers on what your job is like. Would you choose the same career path if you could go back?

I've only worked in one district so my view of what special education looks like is pretty limited. I like the idea of working with smaller groups and focusing on more specific issues, but one of my concerns is that I'll spend most of my time in IEP meetings rather than the classroom.
