@Andrea: I don't believe in umbrellas or gloves. Today changed my mind though, since I was pushing a double stroller with both hands!

When I left this morning the windchill was -35 degrees. Actual temp was only -10 but no matter how you look at it I was miserable. It was to the point where you can't go outside without coughing. My commute is short but I froze the whole way because my car wasn't even close to warm!

Yes - Hubs decided to stay home (he works outside in construction) and I froze to the core.

I thought about bundling E up and taking him out for some fresh air today, but my face and hands suggested otherwise when I went to check the mail. I have nothing good to cover his face (maybe wrap a scarf around it?) and realized later I could only find one of his gloves. I had my hands in my pockets when I was outside and my hands and face both hurt within 5 minutes (my gloves are in the car, which D had today).

@mrbee: my friend, you need to buy yourself some gloves!! It's too dangerous to be out in cold like this without gloves!

@LovelyPlum: we have a stroller hand warmer thingy, I may install that!!
I just don't believe in gloves, unless I'm actually building a snowman or sledding!

@Smurfette: I recommend some wine (or hard liquor, in a pinch).

Honestly, it was cold but it wasn't THAT cold to me. I think the hype from the news and my Facebook newsfeed made it seem like we were going into a new Ice Age today.
@mrbee: I don't wear gloves either. That's what my pockets are for! But I do have this stroller hand warmy thing for our walk to child care.
But I do have ths

@mrsjazz: I thought it was pretty darn cold!! How long is your morning walk?
coconut / 8234 posts
@mrbee: I have a 15-minute walk to child care and then another 10-minute walk to the train. It was cold, but I dressed in layers and the only part that felt cold on my body was my face.

@mrsjazz: I need to get that stroller hand warmer installed... then I think I would've been ok!!

I didn't freeze, but we did throw boiling water into the air and watched it vaporize. It blew my mind!

Yes. It was 46° and I wore a sweater dress. Around noon I bought stockings. So cold!

Today was warmer than yesterday. It was easier to start the car today. Going to get bread for chili felt like a heat wave at 6 degrees.

@mrbee: Don't you guys have a hand muff for the stroller?
I forgot my gloves yesterday and i nearly froze on 42nd street, omg.
admin / wonderful grape / 20724 posts
@looch: yah we just havent installed it. Plus, we're using a rain cover to help keep the kids warm so we can't access the handlebars!
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
@mrbee: I highly recommend it, especially when you're using public transit and what not!
There are also ones that are separated, for each handle, if you don't have that big bar that goes across.

I left the house this morning, my neighbor saw me and laughed saying, 'it's not that cold!' Dude, it is not as cold as it is elsewhere, but 2 degrees & -14 with the windchill is pretty damn cold, my hat, scarf, and gloves were totally appropriate, his bathrobe & slippers out to start his wife's car were crazy!
