In the past months, my daughter would occasionally tug on her hair or run her fingers through her hair in a fist as she nursed to sleep. About 2 weeks ago, she started pulling her hair out upon waking up, usually without making any noise at all so I wouldn't know she was awake yet unless I was paying close attention to our video monitor screen. She pulls her hair out from the top of her head and then pulls the strands between her fingers, playing with it. The past couple days, she had pulled out hundreds of hairs each day and now her hair is visibly thinning on top.

I plan on bringing it up a her next appointment (18 month appt on dec 8th) but I am wondering if anyone has experience with this or suggestions on how to get this behavior to stop? I read that it is a self-soothing act and that makes sense as it only happens in the crib. She has a stuffed Lambie doll in the crib with her but that doesn't have human-like hair. I am going to try a ragdoll tonight that has yarn-hair, but I don't have a realistic-haired doll yet. Not sure if one would work because I think she likes the sensation of pulling her hair For now I have just been going in as soon as I see that she is awake and making sure to pay close attention to my monitor when she naps. I Don't want her to have bald spots
