So CD 20. Been taking the clearblue digital OPK since CD 10, and I have yet to get a smiley face. I'm testing with FMU.
Just wondering if anyone never got a smiley and still ovulated? Or know if it possible to never get a smiley and still ovulate?

I read that most people don't get their LH surge until the afternoon. I recommend testing around 2pm or 4 pm after holding your pee for a couple hours. I always got a happy face testing around those times. Goodluck!

I did the month that I got pregnant. I never for a positive OPK and I wasn't temping so I never got a confirmed temp rise. I did note CM drying up however so I know that it happened for me.
I agree with LeeLee. I tested around 2pm, which was when previous LH surges were caught with the test.
Good luck!

You may just not have ovulated yet! One month I didn't get a smiley until day 21 : )
Also, I agree with others about testing in the afternoon - HOWEVER - I had a really short LH surge that would last less than 24 hours. I used to test in the afternoon, evening, and morning. Oftentimes, my afternoon test was negative, evening positive, morning positive, then next afternoon negative. Because the smiley tests are expensive, I used the cheap internet tests in the afternoon and evening - if I had what I thought was a positive, I confirmed it using a smiley test. I always used smileys in the morning, too.
Good luck!

Yeah, I know testing in the afternoon or evening is best. But the clearblue directions says it's ok to test with FMU. I have such a hard time holding it long enough and not drinking any fluids. I drink a lot of water.
@winniebee: That's a good idea to use the cheap ones in the afternoon and evening.

@mrskc: I had the same problem re: holding pee and the smiley tests do say OK to test in the morning. I just found that it was most accurate for me to also test in the afternoon and evening (and tried desperately to hold pee for 3 hours!) - in fact, I noticed a "fade in" pattern on the strip test OPKs where the second line would start getting darker in the afternoon and evening and by the next morning I would get the smiley. Also, on a few occasions, I got my first smiley very late in the evening (10 p.m. once and on another occasion, 4:00 a.m....don't ask what I was doing up so early!)

@winniebee: Thank you for sharing your experience. Maybe it's possible I had a LH surge that lasted less than 24 hours and I missed it. Or maybe I just haven't ovulated yet. I guess only time will tell. So frustrating not knowing when to expect AF.

I never got a positive OPK on the months that I tested with them. I also started using a CBEFM (just to confirm that I actually was ovulating). I got somewhere around 13 high days on it, but never got an "egg" reading (ovulation symbol).
Yet - here I am, 12 weeks pregnant. I guess I was either doing it wrong all along, or they just never worked for me?

I only got a positive in the afternoon and had ovulated by the next morning (so within 12 hours) which is not very common. If you ovulate quickly after your surge you could totally miss it.
