My co-worker used it once to get home after a dinner and she had a good experience. Thinking about using them to get to the airport instead of taxi... Anyone use it? Some people on my FB rave about it!

It's fantastic and they always see to have promos. So much better than a gross cab. The first time we used it, we didn't realize tip was included in the price (the driver politely declined & told us it was included), something to consider when trying to compare prices.

Love it. Door to door, no cash. Most of the time it's cheaper than a cab.

Love it! I hate dealing with tips and payment. I won't use a cab in my home city (except for an emergency), but sometimes its worth it to use Uber.

Yes! Used it when we went to Atlanta and it was awesome!! Offered us bottled water/mints/gum. They also don't allow tipping (it's included in the price). Soooo much better than a cab!

Yep love it! So easy and cheap (esp if you use UberX). I use it frequently!

Yes it's great! And in NYC sooo much more comfy than a cab, the cars have better shock absorption

Love it! I've used it in NYC where I live and it's been essential when traveling!

Yep, DH uses it all the time, and I've used it with him a couple times.

You're in NY? I used Uber X to go to Newark a couple weeks ago, and it was better than a taxi and much cheaper than a car service would have been! They just lowered the prices on Uber X to be better than taxis, supposedly. It was definitely true for a longer trip like that.

Very popular here in DC! I've also used it in ATL. I LOVE Uber. I watched that one episode of SVU where they taxicab driver drove the lady from the airport to some abandoned place, raped and killed her! So, I don't do taxis. Uber *seems* better (yes I know of a couple of bad experiences with uber but less chances than random taxis), and there's a record of who picked me up, so you know who go to looking for when I don't make it home. It's great because there's a picture of the driver that's picking you up, and what make and model their car is and driver's license plate. These are all things I make a note of and send to DH or my co-worker if I'm leaving work. Yeah, it's deep, but working in a DA's office will do that to you too! I love seeing that picture so I know it's the right person. They're friendly, offer you water, clean cars, and they always have a coupon deal going. I pay $10-24 and I live outside the city, so it's $24 range when I take it from work home. When I'm beating around town it's usually $10, and I *never* use uber without a coupon. Just google!

Yep love it! I've been using uber in SF for a couple years. The cars are cleaner and reliable. Plus the drivers are nice. So tired of rude cab drivers. I just order one from the app on my phone and they show up! I've never taken them to the airport tho.

@Beehive: Yes, def gonna go with Uber/x then to try it out! Really love that tips are already included so I don't have to think about how much to tip!
@dc yoga bee: Haha yeah, when my co-worker used it, she was showing everyone the guy's face in case something happened to her lol!

@TheSwissWifeStyle: Sorry I saw this so late! Uber is an app you can d/l. You pre-enter your credit card info, so when you need a ride, you can pull up the app and it shows you cars that are around you and how long it takes them to get to you. You can set a destination to see how much it will cost. All tips are included so there's no cash to transact. People are saying the cars/drivers are nicer, and supposedly cheaper than traditional taxi/car service.

@snowjewelz: Thanks! Is it a business? Or just random people who want to drive other people around?

@TheSwissWifeStyle: I'm not 100% sure but I think it's all licensed for hire drivers. Last time I saw my co-worker used it you can see a pic of the driver/license plate before booking the car.

@TheSwissWifeStyle: I think its a cross between random people and professionals, but most seem to do it as a "job". I'm pretty sure Uber vets all drivers and cars to make sure they're safe. One driver was telling us how the majority of drivers are former taxi drivers and that Uber is a better deal for them because they don't have to deal with the union, and they can make their own schedule.

@Mrs.Someone: @snowjewelz: Interesting, thanks! I might think about it for when I'm in the US this fall

Uber is about the same cost as a taxi, give or take a few dollars up or down.
Wall me for a referral link and you get $30 off your first ride. You can track them through the app to see them arriving. I've done it about 5+ times now and have had only one grumpy driver, the others were absolutely pleasant and I tend to talk a lot.
The bad thing is that you have to arrange it at the location and time you want to pick up. So in fairly accessible places, there are always ones in the area and it shows you how many minutes it will take for them to pickup, once you request a car. For not-so-popular locations, I would be wary. They are regular established taxi drivers that also use Uber as their agent to connect them to close customers via gps. It's huge in big cities in the US and London. I love it and have switched over for the convenience. No more giving info over the phone to a cab company. Just click and they show up. They have all they need with your location, your credit card and phone number.
