Apple watch prices are dropping. $350 was way too high for me, but $250 is getting more reasonable but a bit high for a luxury item still. At what price point would you get an apple watch? Or at what price would you want someone to spend on it as a gift (like your spouse).

I don't wear jewelry as it is, I can't imagine wanting one. My phone serves as a watch for me.

DH got me a nice watch when we were dating. I tried to tell DH that its time for a new one because this one is 5+ years and an apple watch would be the same investment. He made the good point that the technology will be so outdated in just a year or two its not really worth that high price.
I think it would be a fun gadget to have but probably less than $100 or so.

My Apple Fanboy husband has gotten me one of these not once, but twice. And he has returned it not once, but twice, after he couldn't tell me what it could really do that my phone can't. Ha.

Wearable technology is the next frontier. My husband has a smart watch and he's an early adapter. He uses it basically like you would a phone, except that you can't talk through it yet! There are some out there though, that you can do that with.
I look at them like anything else, while you might not see the need now, eventually technology will change, the current stuff becomes unavailable and you have no choice but to trade up.

I'm not there yet, I don't think I would utilize it like it should be. I think I would still check my phone instead of my watch, I want the bigger screen.

I actually want one!
The reason is that it pairs with the iPhone. I just got the 6 and that thing is huge! Too big to fit in my pocket like the 5 did comfortably. So now I have to store it in my purse. It’s kind of cumbersome to get it out of my purse every time I want to look at the time … and I have missed texts and phone calls b/c it’s in my purse and not in my pocket anymore. I know the watch will tell me the time and let me know when I get text and phone calls on my wrist.
I think this was a savvy thing Apple made because now that their phones are getting bigger and bigger they made something small and more reachable if you had to store the big phone in your purse or massager bag (for guys).
Though I feel like it is too pricey now… even at 250 … but at 100 dollars or less I would consider getting it.

I love Apple and I love techie gadgets and I'm kinda meh on the Apple watch. I don't think it adds a ton of value, and I think the interface is tough to use. Maybe $100 if I could find a use for it? Not sure how worth it is to me to see my text messages/emails on my watch instead of on my phone, lol.

@Raindrop: Agree, I think it will be a thing of the past eventually, like Why are you pulling your phone out of your bag instead of looking at your watch.
Ive almost dropped my phone many times when trying to juggle it with the kids. I think having something wearable would be convenient instead of having to hold it or dig for it.

I don't think pulling my phone out to look at it is a big deal. I don't need to be so connected that I need to skip the step of looking at my phone. Would never want one.

@Raindrop: Well yeah! I mean, look at it this way, 20 years ago we never thought we'd have phones where we could check our email.
Eventually, you won't even need your phone to answer a call. You just would use the watch.

@T.H.O.U.: I think they are cool and worth it, but my brother is in the tech world and said that he would wait because a new one is coming out soon.... I would be bummed to get this one and have a new one come out in a few months that had improved features, etc.... Or if anything, the current one would probably drop in price even more.

I have the FitBit Charge HR and it bluetooth connects to my phone. I love that it vibrates and tells me who's calling (if my phone is nearby) and I can decide if I want to answer. It will even tell me when my mom is trying to facetime

DH has a smart watch, and I was comfortable with him paying $150. Of course it went down to $100 a month or two later. He uses his watch daily, and it helps him be more productive.

I don't want one, but my husband wants one. Unfortunately, he has every other Apple product out there...and we definitely don't have the cash for a new watch right now. If they were around $100, I might try to surprise him with it. $250 is a lot for a gadget that he might not even use (though, as far as 'nice' watches that he likes go, $250 is reasonable...)

As of right now I would never want one. But I also remember when I was hosting Japanese exchange students in college and they had cameras on their phones (it was before we had them here) and thinking why would I ever need that? And I remember thinking texting was silly too when it first started now those are the two things I used my phone for most! So I feel like some day the watch could be like that and I will wonder how I ever thought it was useless.

@Mrs. Oatmeal: Thats kinda my dilemma too. I have worn my current watch every day for over 5 years so even though it was expensive I feel like I've gotten my money's worth. My concern is though will the technology and/or durability of the apple watch keep up and last even say 2 years.
@jill_a55: I try not to get the first model of anything because they do improve. So I will probably will have to at least wait until the next model is out and then wait for that to come down in price!

I voted never because I don't have an iPhone, nor will I ever have one again. I am getting a Pebble Time Round for my birthday this year, and I'm so excited about it. You can reply to texts using a built in microphone! Also, it's white and rose gold. So pretty! My husband was a baker for the original Pebble kickstarter and he still wears and loves his.

If anything, I'm trying to figure out more boundaries for technology and being less glued to my phone/devices. So I don't want one of these.
