I lucked out and found one at Trader Joe's yesterday. I don't have the patience to buy all the things you need for a gingerbread house so buying a kit was amazing! Are you making one with your kids this year?

@mediagirl: yes we had 3 playdates where we made them - ha! My kids love them!!
I get the mini houses and hot glue them together - so easy!
Then we use Halloween candy to decorate

Yes I got one that was already put together and you just decorate. It was our first time making one and we had a lot of fun!

My husband's employer hosts a decorating party every year, so we just go there and go to town! It's so much fun and I am so glad I don't have to do the assembly.

I got a small kit for $3 and it was perfect for my 3 yo. We did it a few weeks ago.

Such a sore subject for me!! I bought a Trader Joe's kit and our naughty dog ate about half of it. So now we have a pup with an upset tummy and no gingerbread house because our local stores are all out. Oh well.

We made a couple from trader joe's. The kids had fun but all DS2 wanted was to eat alllll the candy.

Nope, I don't get them. Do you construct it and wait for it to be ant bait afterward? We're decorating gingerbread men from Target soon.

We made gingerbread cookies, but maybe I'll buy one of those Trader Joe ones because we have a long time off together!!

I got one at Target and built the structure but haven't had time for LO to actually stick the candy on yet. Oops. Bad mommy.

I built my LO one out of graham crackers and she loved it!
I couldn't keep it on display for too long because she kept wanting me to let her decorate it again

We did! We had a cousin day and a bunch of little houses and they went wild.

Hopefully we'll make a kit with my family. My husband and sister usually team up.
I have made mini ones quite a few times and they're really fun and easy. Six graham crackers "glued" together with melted white sugar so everything is edible. Top with icing and whatever candies you like! Note: for glue all you do is put white sugar in a pan on medium heat and stir until it melts and goes brown. It can be used exactly like hot glue and dries fast. It's also just as dangerous/ more so than hot glue and every time I do it I burn myself and it hurts a lot! But it's once a year or every few years. :). Definitely assemble without small children present.

We did a paper and stickers one! It was so fun. Very chill. It was like 70% off at Michael's and O hope I can keep it forever. Very sturdy white cardboard.
