@josina: love the wedding dress shoot! I have that pinned but haven't yet booked a session. How old was your DD when you did it?

I just started writing to my girls. So far I hand wrote letters and scanned them and emailed to the kids email accounts. Those were just about them so far, an intro into why I was writing, and about our family. Then I just emailed their list of baby milestones, and I basically just send them those little moments that I don't want to forget. Favorite words they mispronounce, sweet things they say, do, etc. I keep a note on my phone of stuff I don't want to forget and then periodically make it into a more cohesive email.
After my mom passed it was really important for me to have tangible evidence of her and her love for me, I guess. So I really want to be sure that at least yearly I scan them something handwritten. I keep the hard copies in their file boxes at home for now.

I was inspired by a time capsule at my son's school, so I went out and found a luggage style box and am writing him letters from both parents and both sets of grandparents at the end of each school year. I wish I would have thought to do it in preschool, from his teachers, but I missed the boat. I might ask his K teacher to do it, and I still see his preschool teacher on occasion, so, maybe I have a chance.

We're doing letters, it's so rare to get paper mail.

I wrote in a daily calendar for ODD her first year and am doing the same with YDD. I also have a journal I write in periodically. DH has set up email accounts for both the girls and emails periodically.

This email idea is super cool. I think I'll have to start that. I did write them both letters while pregnant (but wrote my first a few more and also wrote a letter on her first birthday.). Didn't print it off my computer yet.

So you just set up an email account for them and saved the password? This may sound silly...but do you need to log in periodically to keep it active or anything?

I have email addresses for both kids, and Hubs and I occasionally email them. It was really frequent for D at first (like monthly), but once A was born, it became much less frequent, and poor A hardly has any emails. I'm trying to get better. I also recently started using the Qeepsake app, which texts questions 1x/week and then I can print a book or something with them at some point.

I would think so, yes, but I haven't looked into it.

For LO's birthday I asked family to write letters to him that would be opened like a time capsule when he's 18. I still need to set up an email for him to send all of his pictures.
