My kid had a really long lasting cold round the 1 year mark and because of the phlegm dripping down the back of his throat he vomited a few times. Now every time he coughs I cringe in anticipation!
This accompanied the raspy voice rather than coming after it though, and I'd say it's not the sort of thing to happen often.

@agold: Might even be allergies, but usually if my kiddo gets raspy, there's a chest cold brewing, so we'll see a phlegmy cough, chest congestion, and possibly sinus issues as well. Nothing to do but wait it out, and if the deeper symptoms hit, steam, heat and time until it resolves. Good luck!
