This is a follow up to a recent post I made about bottle nipples. LO was eating so that the nipples would seem to have the air sucked out of them and flatten/deform. The medela nipples especially- when I'd pull it out to fix it they'd invert into themselves.
The hospital bottle nipples we got were working fine but would similarly flatten out, though would just re-"inflate" when I pulled them out.
When this is happening I can tell because she seems to be sucking hard and not getting anything. A few of you suggested faster flow possibly, or other bottles.
I tried some Tommee Tippees and they were HORRIBLE. It seems that the wider the nipple base the more likely they are to deflate and invert.
I bought new Dr Brown's nipples and put them in the collars of our old nipples. These are the 3 month ones. (LO is almost 12 weeks.) Honestly besides that she finishes faster, I don't notice a difference.
However, these nipples do the deflating thing too.
I'm at the point where I don't want to buy more bottles/nipples, because I'm afraid this will keep happening. It makes feedings take longer, frustrates LO, and is messy. I cannot for the life of me figure out what's causing it.
1) Anyone know the cause of this or have the same issues? Any ideas how to fix it?
2) Anyone have this issue and have a bottle/nipple to recommend that fixed it for them?
Thanks in advance. I can't find anything online about this issue (maybe because I can't think of the perfect word to describe what happens) so I am feeling really stuck and frustrated!
