She is due when my babies will be 8 months. At that point they will be too old for something like that right? I'm going to a consignment sale next weekend and not sure if I should look to pick one up or know we'd be done by 8 months anyway.

My daughter used her swing until she was a year. She was also a crappy napper and that was the only way I could guarantee she would sleep for most of the first year.

I would say that they'll most likely be done with the swing by then. I don't think most babies spend a ton of time in the swing after around 6 months, but there are always exceptions.

We stopped using it with both kids around 5 months. I think by 8 months you'll probably be using some other kind of baby container!

I'm pretty sure you'd be done with it. We didn't really use a swing, but I wouldn't be comfortable with a mobile baby by then to be contained in something like that!

My three were obsessed with the swing until five months.
I have a 7.5 month old and the swings have been packed up for a while.

The vast majority of kids have moved on by then so I vote you don't worry about buying one unless you get close to her due date and find you're still using it. By that age my daughter was too strong and could get herself in some weird positions even while belted in so it just wasn't safe anymore.

See if your kiddos like it first, then go to a consignment shop after that and pick one up if one or both of them like it a ton. Neither of my sons liked the swing, so it was a bit of a wasted purchase for me.

We used a borrowed swing for DD2 until 6 months.
ETA: never had one for Dd1!

Got rid of it about 6 months or so after watching her sit up in it and try and escape. It freaked me out and I wasn't using it much after 3 months anyway.

DD1 used it for maybe 6 months, DD2 is 3 months and i haven't even pulled it out of storage.

@meadow: You might want to wait and see if your baby even likes the swing. we received that same swing as a gift I thought it was the cutest best swing in the world but our daughter just wasnt a big fan of it. so overall we didnt use it much. I'm hoping baby # 2 likes it more.
Also with ours even on the lowest setting the swing was a bit fast so we read a tip online about having a blanket dragging the floor from the swing to slow it down a bit

DD used her swing until about 5 months. She was addicted to it and used it for all naps then all of a sudden hated it and wanted in her crib.

My LO stopped using it between 5-6 months. Only used it for naps at that point.

My lo1 was addicted but stopped around 4.5 months. And by addicted I mean wouldn't even sleep in our arms much but napped all the time in there.
