These seem to be a popular choice in diaper bags. I need to buy a new bag and never even considered a back pack. I just couldn't see myself wearing it but I'm sure I'm just missing something if they are so popular. Tell me, what do you love or hate about your back pack diaper bag? When I was newly pregnant my husband and I babysat my best friend's kids for a weekend and they use a backpack diaper bag. My husband loved it because it was easy to carry. I hated it because when I wanted to grab something from it, I either had to take it off, or swing it around, and then it seemed to tip upside down as I was trying to get stuff out. So I prefer cross body.
We bought a JuJuBFF that can be both cross body and backpack and while my husband thought he would use the backpack all the time, it turns out we never use the backpack feature. That might be because the BFF is a bit heavy, so we just don't take it if we're going to have to carry it all day.
My biggest thing with diaper bags is that I highly recommend getting a small clutch that holds just a pad, wipes and a few diapers and keeping that in the larger diaper bag. Then when you need to change a diaper, you can just grab this clutch to take in the bathroom. Or you can grab the clutch and throw it in a swim bag, or carry it solo when you just need basics. We use the JJ Cole clutch and Huggies fabric wipes holder. We fold the clutch with the wipes on the outside so they're easily accessible for other stuff.

I love that my backpack bag isn't constantly falling off my shoulder while I'm wrangling two toddlers. Heck, I wish I'd had it with one kid! That being said it definitely makes me feel more mom-ish because I'm not really a backpack girl to begin with and sometimes it makes it difficult to fit between cars in parking lots but otherwise no complaints! I have a JJ Cole one. It was only like $80 so it was expensive enough to look nice but not so expensive to feel crazy!

I use a regular Under Armor backpack as my diaper bag now with two kids. It's not perfect but it's so nice to have my hands totally free with I have the baby and the toddler. I also live on the second floor with stairs so it's hugely helpful when I'm carrying in bucket seat and holding the toddlers hand on the stairs. We baby wear a lot too so it's helpful for that.
But I do agree with @JenGirl: that it's harder to grab things to get them out. Mine has mesh side pockets for water bottles which helps some. And my wallet is a wristlet that I will just hold of we are shopping or something. And yeah, it's pretty mommish.

I've gone through MANY diaper bags in the past 3.5 years, and never thought I would have a backpack one. But eventually, after DS2, decided we would need it for things like going to the zoo when I didn't want a huge bag falling off my arm. Well, since we got it, we've basically used it non-stop and all my other bags just sit in the closet. DH loves it as well and wears it frequently.
We have the skiphop Forma backpack.

I got this for DD2 and wish I had it for my first! It's super light weight, roomy enough for cloth diapers, and great for 2 kids.

@LulaBee: I should have gone with this one. Mine is nice and I will use it for travel down the road, but it's bigger than I need and leads to me just leaving crap in the bottom and not realizing its weighing me down. I thought this one would be too small but I think it would have been just right. Oh well.

I have a BFF and the one that @LulaBee: posted. The backpack is what I use for travel because it's easy to make compact. But I really do prefer the BFF and I've never been tempted to use the backpack straps. Generally if we're going to be out and about enough to bring the diaper bag, we also bring the stroller and strap it on to it.

I have a few regular "fashion" back packs that I use as diaper bags! DD is 19 months so functionality isn't as big of an issue since I don't have to pack as much.
My dream would be to get a Lily Jade convertible. I like the Skip Hop Forma, but for me I wouldn't get one since we're likely done with 2 and I already have a diaper bag.

I got this about 2 months ago. I keep a smaller bag in it with the essentials for T so I can just pull it out. It can be carried by 2 top handles. I also bought an insert for my camera which is nice. It lays and opens completely when flat so there's less rummaging.
