I agree - Tula on your back is likely the way to go. If it will be very hot, you might consider a framed carrier, but based on your comments I think you are better off (will have better balance and no need to purchase anything new) with the soft structured carrier on your back.

Do you hike or camp a lot or do you plan to in the near future? If so, I'd get a frame. It will keep everyone more comfortable and less hot, especially for longer periods. I also find it keeps be better balanced on ascents/descents. LO is much happier. I also love that some have a ton of pockets and a sunshade
I have a Kelty. We bought it secondhand. Osprey and deuter also make them and they are well-reviewed

We have a backpack carrier and a Tula. the last trip the baby (10 months 27 lb 32") went in the backpack carrier for our big hike (3 miles...) and the 2.5 year old (37 lb and 40") walked or went in the toddler tula on my husbands back. Around the campsite and such the baby was in the tule on my front or back.

I would not spend $$$ on a new one just for one trip unless you had day long hikes with one person carrying the baby planned and thought you would use it at least a few more times.

My 2.5 year old is WAY WAY WAY too big for the backpack carrier we have.

Best thing we brought camping was the clip on high chair seat. It went on the picnic table easily and was a total life saver having somewhere to put the baby down that wasn't dirt.
