DS is on the verge of walking, and we've honestly never put shoes on him. I'm guessing he'll be a new walker this fall. What soft soles would you recommend? I'll probably go with SKRs when he's steady, but looking for something besides Robeez in the meantime. Why do Robeez have all these crazy patterns that don't match anything?!

We had one pair of Stride Ride and the rest were SKR Smaller. I prefere SKR. Stride Ride annoys me with the half sizes. Just trying to get parents to buy more. Plus SKR has more designs that are neutral.

C is at the very same point- she is so close to walking but not there yet. We have robeez but they get twisted on her chubby feet somehow, so I prefer the skr smallers (that I bought from @Smurfette: !) They seem a little sturdier while still being really soft. I just bought a pair of Livie and Luca on baby steals yesterday in the next size up, which I think are similar.
Once she is actualy walking a lot I will probably bring her to a store to get fitted but for now I'm trying to save money on shoes she will outgrow before she is even walking.

I love robeez and they were great for early walking! They don't always have the greatest pictures/prints but they are super practical!

I like robeez, they feel "slipper like" while still staying on her feet. That being said, I wish they came in more neutral colours! Especially for girls, every.single.option is pink.

I did not like the Robeez with the sueded sole, they would leave red marks on my son's chunky feet.
Instead, I found Robeez Mini Shoez. Those are more like tranditional shoes, with a wider and more flexible opening.

Have you checked etsy for robeez like shoes? I know there are a lot of people making them. (I searched for "soft soled leather baby shoes" - I believe).
We have a pair that are a simple dark moss green. I find they go with everything.

We had a plain blue tennis shoe from Robeez and their brown boot that I loved. We moved on to pediped next once he was more confident, then to see kai run.

@looch: yes! I was going to suggest the same shoes. DS had them as he learned to walk and wore them for maybe three months after he was really steady. I like that they have good traction so he wouldn't slip on hardwood floors.

I never bought early walker shoes for B because they aren't my style (the shame!). He has a pair of Toms, a pair of Vans, and a pair of high top chucks and he walks like a pro in all three. I bought him a pair of Stride Rite initially and ended up returning them because I didn't notice any difference in his walking. He's barefoot 95% of the time so he became steady that way. We've never had any issues with tripping or anything.

We just got a ton of adorable soft sole shoes for LO from Kohls. They are called Tommy Tickle. Most them aren't neutral colors exactly but they are toned down & it was easy to find a few pairs that would go with all of her outfits.

I've loved SKR smaller. Flexible enough for early walkers but enough oomph to deal with the rocks and sticks and what have you that he likes to cruise through!
Also D's been in this "almost walking" phase for like three months.

We've been using the momo baby shoes, which I think are essentially the same as robeez, but maybe there's a pattern you'd like from them. LO seems ok with them.
