I need to lose about 30lbs but eff it. Sort of, anyway. I have a bikini top with athleta shorts, but I also have a tankini.

@Tidybee: I have faded stretch marks on my hips and thighs. None on my belly.
honeydew / 7463 posts
Yes, I do. Im mostly self conscious about my hips and thighs and I actually feel like a one piece draws more attention to that area than a bikini does.

@Tidybee: No stretch marks here - I come from a ridiculously lucky gene pool where no one in my family has ever gotten a stretch mark. Not sure if I'd wear a bikini if I did have them, would have to see what they look like!

Yup.
I'm tall, so it's difficult to find a one piece that is long enough. And. Wing overweight pre-baby, I got used to bot caring how I look in a bathing suit. So it was natural for me to go back to a bikini after my son was born.
I did have to get a new top to fit my breastfeeding boobs (large and can't have an underwire). And I specifically looked for one that I didn't fall out of if I was bending over, which took some looking!

Yep ! I'm squishy but I have a long torso and small bust so one pieces are very unflattering. I bought a retro high waisted two piece that I think works okay.

@Tidybee: You are so not alone...My belly looks like a jiggly road map.

I do. I've never had amazing abs and after 2 kids I have slightly more squidge around the middle than I would like, but I still feel comfortable in a bikini. I haven't owned a one piece since my high school swim team days!

Haha, I just don't have a body for a bikini, no matter how much I actually weigh. I don't have the stretch mark issue, but I have that classic pear shaped body that needs a one piece to elongate.
Plus, I am always shifting the pieces around...kind of like why I don't wear strapless dresses either!

I completely assumed this thread was going to be a link to this:
(Yes, I wear my bikinis postpartum. I refuse to buy new swimsuits unless I happen to find one I really like.)

@mediagirl: you don't store anything anywhere! Your body is bangin'.
I wear a bikini. Even after 3 kids! I don't look great, but I just don't find 1 pieces comfortable.

I have stretch marks all over my belly and my second baby gave me a small umbilical hernia I have yet to have fixed. So no. No bikinis.

yes.
http://www.coffeeandcrumbs.net/blog/2016/6/6/swimsuit-season
"Here’s the thing: I don’t feel swimsuit ready for this summer. My workouts usually consist of getting three children in and out of the car (bonus points for an 18 pound six-month old in the baby carrier), and my healthy diet stops at snagging a few apple slices when I cut them up for the kids’ lunch. I’ve got a Pinterest board full of slim-down and tone-up ideas, but they have proven no match for this tired body of mine. But these three faces in front of me, they are swimsuit ready. They want to jump in the water, play with the hose, build sand castles and get in a water balloon fight with their dad. They aren’t going to wait for me as I focus on all the things my body is not; all they see is what it is: their mama."

Nope. Stretch marks all over my stomach. Plus I'm 9 weeks post partum right now and no where near done losing the baby weight. But even next year I'm sure I won't wear a bikini either, there are just too many stretch marks.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@Tidybee: I have stomach stretch marks and I'm wearing a bikini still!! They faded a bit but I've just decided I don't give a crap what anyone thinks anymore!
nectarine / 2834 posts
@coopsmama: me too!! The hernia is one thing to get past...but then there are the stretch marks that literally hug my belly button and fan out from there. I also have one reeeeally deep dark pink stretch mark above my belly button. I shouldn't care but I do. I'm just bummed because I think my stomach and love handles are smaller than pre pregnancy when I was always too self conscious to wear a bikini as well. Oh well. I lived in 1 pieces bc I was on a swim team through college so I don't find them that uncomfortable so I'll just don them and have fun with my kids.

One pieces for life!
I can only wear bikinis if I don't move.
Lost too many tops to waves in high school.
Between the pudge, the stretch marks, loose skin and restricted movement I am not a bikini gal.

@mediagirl: yup! and i don't care. but my stomac h has never been my insecure point, stretch marks, sags and all.
grapefruit / 4418 posts
@Tidybee: I don't have stretch marks but I'd still rock one if I did. I don't really give an eff at this point. I figure most people aren't paying me attention and even if they are, I'm not paying attention to them!

I wear a bikini top, but shorts on the bottom. I don't find one pieces or tankinis comfortable.
honeydew / 7917 posts
So weight wise I should be comfortable in a bikini, but I have zero confidence. I have no boobs, and all the focus is towards my mid section, which is squishy and full of stretch marks. I'll be rocking a one piece for the rest of my life, and I'm okay with that. I keep thinking that maybe one day I'll be happy with my body, but realistically that won't happen.
