We both love the sound of the name Bodhi (bo-dee) but I hate the spelling. Any other recommendations for an alternative spelling? The only other way I have seen is Bohdi which isn't much different.

I've never seen it spelt any different than those 2 ways, but maybe a close alternative that sounds similar? Beau or Brody?

Bodii, Bodee, Beauxdhi?
Anything specifically that you dislike about the original spelling?

I've seen Bodi(e) and Bode, but I honestly like Bodhi the best! I love the name but DH would never go for it.

@FannyMae: I love Beau too which is what led us to Bodhi so it's def a contender!
@Little Misters Mom: I think it's the "h" for some reason.
@tinyperson: I hadn't thought about Bode. Thanks!

I don't love the look of Bodhi either, but I think Bode will set him up for constant correction of mispronunciations. That might just be a risk with the name in general though, which might be an argument in favor of doing whatever you want.

I would pronounce Bohdi the way you want it before the way you initially spelled it.

Bodee?
Too bad you can't do "Body" that rhymes with the name Cody. Pretty sure most would think it is body, as in the human body.

@fairy: Ha! That's ok, I've only ever heard it in reference to the Patrick Swayze movie Point Break.
@matador84: I said the same thing! I said what about b-o-d-y and DH said you mean BODY? No, you're trying too hard, haha. Oh well.
@rattles: True...I think we may cross out this one all together. Our last name is rather long and has an extra ''e'' in there that everyone forgets so we have to constantly spell it. I'd rather my child not have to spell their full name every single time.

I wouldn't mess with spelling. Besides if you like the Buddhist meaning, you'll lose that if you change the spelling. Bode miller is pretty well known, so you can probably get away with that, though he's not someone is be super excited to call to mind.

@Mrs. Jacks: we're not tied to the Buddhist meaning at all. Literally just like the sound of it! Thank you

Don't do Bode-- too many people will pronounce it as if it rhymes with "toad."

I know three "Bodhis." One is spelled Bode, the other two are spelled Bodie.
