Has anyone ever considered being a part of the bone marrow registry? A good friend of mine has a nephew with a terrible blood disease. He is only 2 years old and he needs a bone marrow transplant, but there is no match for him.

[I hope this is not considered self-promoting, but here is a link to a story about Owen: (http://bigmedicine.ca/wordpress/2013/05/new-york-blood-drives-for-fdny-firefighters-toddler-son/)

If you are found to be a match, it does require an anesthetic and a procedure, but it is entirely covered at no cost to the donor. Has anyone had the cheek swab done? I'll be honest, I've never considered it until now.
