We need to get a Booster seat for our 4.5 year old. What do you have and recommend?

Yes, a five point harness Booster seat. I am well aware of laws and regulations.

A 4.5 year old should still be in a 5 point harness because they're too little to use the big seatbelt. Even with a booster seat.
That said, I use an evenflo booster and it works great.
Eta- I guess there are booster seats that have the 5 point harness. My mistake.

Is there a diff between a 5 or harness booster and ff convertible?
I think we have to switch out my dd soon, she's not quite 40 lbs and her car seat is supposed to go to 65 but her shoulders are getting close to going above the top slot unless I missed another set.

@Maysprout: in harness mode, there's not much difference, but the combination seats convert to belt-positioning boosters while most convertibles do not. A combination seat is also more likely to last longer since it was never intended to accommodate a smaller RF kid.
We have the Britax Frontier click tight and it is great! It is a big seat though.

We have the frontier as well, and like it. As Mrs. Yoyo said, it is a big seat! But both our kids are in them and our 6.5 year old has only recently started to complain about it...

@StbHisMrs: we have the britax frontier - it converts from a 5 point to a high back booster

We have the Diono RXT, the Britax Frontier (click tight) and Britax Pioneer (no CT). She prefers the Britax the most. The Click Tight is amazing if you're going to move it around (although it still needs a top tether so its not super easy to move).

@StbHisMrs: we have a Clek oobr. DD started using it when she was 4. She's 5 now.

@T.H.O.U.: @StbHisMrs: The Britax Frontier actually only requires a top tether in harness mode with a child over 65 lbs. I feel like most children probably won't be using the 5-pt harness by the time they're that big. (This is for the Britax Frontier 90; I'm not sure about older models). We have had to move our seat a lot lately so I am very thankful we have one that's so easy to install!
ETA: I realize that tethering is ideal, but technically not required for kids under 65 lbs.

We have a Britax Frontier and so far LO likes it. He started using it a month or two before he turned 5.
