DS is 6 days old and just had his first ped appointment yesterday. He lost 1 lb 2 oz since birth and was dehydrated. The ped told us we needed to supplement with formula until my milk came in. I am a FTM, had a pretty traumatic birth so he didn't feed for several hours after he was born. I was leaking colostrum when he was born so it's disheartening now that my supply is not where it should be. I just feel behind. With the help of my ped and sister came up with a game plan.
I nurse him on each side for 5-8 minutes, DH then feeds him 2 oz formula (he doesn't always drink it all) while I pump for 10-15 minutes. I have been getting about 2 oz from these pumping sessions. We are using the Tommie Tippie bottles. I am also seeing a LC today because he also has latch issues (tongue tie and lip tie) which will be "fixed" once he is back to birth weight.
I am really discouraged by my lack of supply and was hoping BF mamas could help with ideas and let me know what they think of my "plan," tips and tricks reassurance my milk WILL come in... anything.
I normally don't ask for real help on here but I could really use it...
Thanks in advance
