I'm currently 15-weeks pregnant and still nursing my 13- month old daughter once a day. My OB asked that I wean my daughter by the time I am 6-months pregnant. Did anyone continue to nurse throughout their entire pregnancy? I am trying to wean her from the morning session, but she just doesn't want to give it up. Any suggestions on how to wean her from the morning session?

My OB asked that I wean by 20 weeks.
However, I nursed through my entire pregnancy, and even nursed her before I went to the hospital when I was in labor.
Most midwives say it is totally fine to nurse during pregnancy.

@Mrs. M: We haven't talked about it yet but I've also only had one NP apt so far. DH & I both want her weaned by 2 though and she's currently almost 22 months. Not sure how that's going to happen....once in a blue moon she'll forget about it when she wakes up.

I'm 17 weeks with a 13 month old. He's dropped a few sessions over the last few months but we still nurse 3-4 times a day. My MW is fine with it, but I'm not gaining enough weight.

I'm almost 30 weeks and still nursing my 17 month old. My midwife is very supportive of me breastfeeding during pregnancy. She even did so herself! As long as you aren't a high risk pregnancy or at risk for preterm labor, I'd personally stick with it.

I nursed my son through my entire pregnancy. Now I'm nursing a 22 month old and a 2 week old! I agree that as long as you aren't high risk or at risk for pre-term labor you will be fine.
I would ask your doctor WHY they want you to wean.

@Navy_Mommy: sorry to thread jack, but how is it nursing a newborn and toddler? My son will be 19 months when the new baby is born and I'm pretty worried about then transition to tandem nursing especially in the first few weeks!

@Beyond2: not bad at all. I kinda feel like a cow sometimes because I spend SO MUCH time breastfeeding, lol. I've only nursed them at the same time a few times, other than that I ask my toddler to wait till his brother is done and he doesn't seem to mind.

still nursing at 17 weeks and my ob says there is no reason to stop. he likes to consider himself a cross between an md and midwife, and we call him a medwife. Unless there is a valid reason to stop, he encourages all breastfeeding mothers to continue throughout the whole pregnancy because it good for mom, baby and toddler.

We nursed throughout the first trimester, he was uninterested by the end and my milk was drying up (he was 14 months) so we weaned. My NP wasn't worried about it at the time.

My mom nursed me all the way through her pregnancy with my sister.

I nursed my entire pregnancy and tandem nursed for 8 months. My supply tanked and pretty much dried up by week 12 though.
