Yesterday my LO woke up with a cluster of little red bumps right above his penis, and up the shaft and around the head. No other red bumps or redness anywhere else in the diaper area. We've been letting him go diaper free and putting Aquaphor on it, but it's not budging.
Anyone out there ever see this before? Any ideas on how to help it go away?

I've never seen red bumps on my son's penis.. have you tried diaper rash cream?

Has it been particularly warm? Could it be heat rash?
ETA: hit submit too quickly... What about yeast infection?

@Ocean girl: We are having some hot, sticky weather right now, so hopefully that's it. In cases of heat rash in the diaper area, does baby powder do the trick? He's had heat rash before on his neck only.

@Tanjowen: It sounds like it could be yeast...after our mega rash episode we started using a water spray and wiping completely dry, then using Aquaphor and never had a rash again. Hope LO is doing better soon!

@Tanjowen: If you use some coconut oil when you wash him at bath time it will help with the yeast, too!

@Tanjowen: yes to coconut oil! My LO has a yeast rash which we were treating with nystatin. Coconut oil cleared it up in two days and helped with his itchiness.

@gilmoregirl: Good to hear! Yeah, I feel bad for the poor kid. It hadn't gotten too bad thank goodness, so I'm hoping it clears up pretty quick. I'm going to try the coconut oil tomorrow.
I feel totally caught off guard by this. For some reason, I didn't even think about boys getting yeast infections and he hasn't had a rash since he was a week old.
