When LO 2 is born my kids will be 2.5 years apart, do you think I should buy a double stroller or just make due with one stroller and encourage LO 1 to walk more?

My kids are 26 months apart and we bought a double stroller. It's been essential for longer trips - to the zoo, etc - anything that requires a lot of walking or moving faster than a toddler's distracted crawl.

We upgraded our Uppababy Vista to the 2015 model so that we could have the rumble seat that faced forward. I love it. Very versatile, both kids seem comfortable, easy to steer.

@Meso: Depends how much you use the stroller currently. We didnt use our stroller that much so I wouldnt have bought a double stroller with that age gap

We definitely needed a double stroller. DD1 & DD2 are right at 2 years apart. We were gifted the sit and stand double stroller and it has been amazing!

I'm currently pregnant with my second and will have that age difference for my two. With my first I rarely used a stroller for the first 20months because I just wore her everywhere . So I'm not buying a double stroller because my plan is just to wear the baby! Although I'm seriously considering getting a double bob because jogging during my first mat leave saved my sanity.

My two are 2.5 years apart and we haven't needed a double but I did get a buggy board for our big girl to ride on.

Mine are going to be 2.5 years apart. I did buy a double, but I got a used one. I used my single a LOT and I really want to use this one a lot, so just hopefully DD doesn't protest too much. If she does I might find ways to keep her entertained like a pad. I regularly used mine 3-4x a week for jogging though, I have a bob. So I really want to use this for jogging all through next summer and fall. I figure I will sell them both eventually so if I can get a couple years out of it then it will be worth it. Saves my sanity.
If you don't use it as much, I could see the sit and stand seats (or something similar) being perfect.

Mine will be 3 years apart and we just recently decided to get one. I had been thinking that I would skip it, since DD1 doesn't really like the stroller (we don't even have one anymore) and I plan to babywear but DH pointed out that I will probably end up carrying DD1 (36 lbs), the baby, and the huge diaper bag quite a bit if we don't have a stroller. Even if it's just a ride along for the bag I think I will get a lot of bang for my buck!

My kids are 2y9m apart, and while we technically don't "need" the stroller for LO1 he gets super jealous of LO2 and begs to ride in the stroller too. We have a City Select which easily switches between single and double. The first time we went out with both kids we didn't bring the second seat and DS had a full in melt down. So, just something to consider. We hadn't really used a stroller much for almost a year before the baby came.

Same age gap and I needed a double- or rather the rumble seat for me uppababy vista we already had. But I live in the city and walk wth the stroller a ton. If I didn't walk as much I could have done with just the stand on buggy board. I do love the convertible type so I can switch is so easily from a single to a double depending on where or how far we are going. I like being able to contain the toddler- she's not the best at staying close when she is walking next to me while I push the baby in the stroller.

i debated this when pregnant with DS2 as my boys are 3 years and 3 months apart. I opted to get a buggy board for my UBV. I have used it quite a bit and i also wear my baby a lot when DS1 needs/wants to go in the stroller. Or he walks. So i mostly am okay without the double....BUT there were a few instances when i was out alone with both kids and felt i NEEDED the double. For those few instances alone, it was worth getting so i bought a used one. I don't use it much, but i am grateful for the moments i have it and need it.

26 months apart and we've gotten away with no double so far. LO2 is 15 months now and just starting to walk. He's been in the carrier so far but we're starting to put him in the stroller more and have LO1 walk. I really want a used double BOB now. My family walks a lot and I don't want to be limited by how far LO1 can walk just yet. We could do without easily but mama has wants.

We haven't got it yet, but will be purchasing this one in the next couple of months with a 2 yr gap. We are getting by right now, but looking so so forward to double stroller.

Wasn't planning on it but we just got a used one today- my kids are three years and four months apart. My daughter still likes the stroller for walks. We got a used mountain buggy (an old one, so it was cheap) and will only use it for walks/exercise. We don't ever use our stroller for outings or shopping now.
If we end up using the double more than I think we will, or we want to upgrade when we have a third I might bite the bullet on a new mountain buggy- I love that they are narrow and can handle dirt roads!!

I am going to see how it goes but I think we will end up getting on. Mine will be 3 years apart and our toddler rides in the stroller daily (we live in the city so our commute is with the stroller). I was considering either just a new single stroller with a board or a sit and stand like the joovy caboose, but I also don't want LO1 to be jealous if LO2 gets the stroller seat after she's been accustomed to having it for so long. So I may suck it up and get a side by side one, maybe the g-link.

DD1 and DD2 are 2.5y apart, and we got the bumbleride indie twin. It's been great! For the first year, we mostly used it to walk to the park (~1.5mi each way; mostly uphill on the way back). Then we moved to a more urban neighborhood that is extremely walkable, and we use it all the time. DD1 definitely *could* walk to a handful of the places we go, but I like that I have the option to buckle her in and/or get where I'm going faster when she rides!
We also have a LO3 on the way, though, so I know we'll get lots more use out of it. Plus re-sale whenever we're done!
