Honestly, whenever I see those signs I almost laugh a bit, as it's such a 'typically Californian' thing. I'm not a native, and clearly these chemicals/toxins exist everywhere else in the country, but it's only here that these signs exist! I personally would rather money go towards finding a solution to our intense drought than furthering this campaign, but maybe it's just me?

I don't really pay attention to the signs or worry about it.

The only time I pay attention to them is when they are on dishes or kitchen products. I won't use those products with the warnings for actual eating but would use it in a decorate way (plates for example.) Otherwise I ignore it. Nothing I can do about it anyways.

All parking garages seem to have them which doesn't really bother me, but my local Starbucks has one right on the milk counter thing. It's slightly disconcerting.

I work in hazard communication, i.e. write these types of warnings on chemical and pharmaceutical products. Prop 65 is an interesting case as there is no minimum safe threshold under that regulation. So even if a chemical could be found at part per million or eeven part per billion, the warning is required. So with that reg, I rarely get concerned.

I think the list of chemicals is going to be extraordinarily large. You'll basically be required to contact the manufacturer to find out more about what's in it, when, in reality, it makes more sense for the requirement to be for the manufacturer to tell you "XYZ is present in X concentration" or "was used during X stage of manufacturing". A quick glance at the (extensive) chemical list shows a lot of everyday products. Some of these are naturally appearing...but every time you buy anything with plastic, for example, would likely have these warnings. Oh and things made out of steel...steel is often cad plated. So...cars? Anything aluminum....lots of solvents....

Always nice to see aspirin on the list of cancer causing medications, since it's prescribed to me during pregnancy.
