Our windows in the family room are right up against an angled wall. There is no room for a curtain rod. I would love to hear and see ways around it. Roll-down blinds (that fit inside the windows) would be nice, but we have a pull-down mosquito net in the way - there's no room.
Here's a picture of how tight it is. There are 3 windows next to each other - quite a bit of space needs to be covered. I'd love to hear and if you have pictures, see your solution. Thank you!

I've seen the curtain rod mounted to the ceiling.
I've seen the round towel hangars used and the curtain tied in a knot and let it drop to the floor. You can't open and close it it is purely decorative.
I've seen from Ikea the metal wire and light weight sheers hung from it.
Do you have a picture of the wall with the windows on it?

Can you use a tension rod to install curtains on the inside of the window?

I would hang the curtain rod as far as possible, then instead of attaching the final at the end, find a thin PVC or some pipe that fits slightly over the rod (spray paint it the same color) and angle it down along the ceiling the rest of the way and secure with the stuff they usually secure conduit with (sorry cant remember the name. Then slide a few notch (if using grommet panels) or inches (if non grommet I think it'd need to be cut to get past the rod anchor), and then adjust the length accordingly to straighten it out at the bottom. And then put the final at the end of the pvc to finish it off, or just a simple cap if theres no room for the matching final. Hope this kind of makes sense...

What about honeycomb/cellular blinds? We have cordless top down, bottom up ones and I love them!! We have light filtering in all the rooms except our bedroom we have blackout. I'm not a mini blind fan either.

It's a high pitched roof and that wall runs all the way up with 3 windows next to each other. I tried taking a picture, but it's pretty dark.

@anbanan15: Cool! I didn't know those existed. How do they stand up to dust? Does the mounting piece take up much space? I really want to put plants on the windowsill so the bottom up won't work for me, unfortunately.

@SugarplumsMom: the bottom up would still work! They don't mount on the bottom just the top. They are good with dust and I love the clean look they have. They are also energy efficient. There are mounting requirements listed in the listing. I forget what they are, but we mounted ours inside and out window casing does not look as deep as yours and it worked well. You can also mount them outside the window and I believe on top of the the window casing which might work for your angled walls and mosquito nets you want to mount inside.
ETA: they also make a mounting bracket extender to still mount from the inside but wouldn't be flush in the casing. That way you could still mount the nets to the inside.

Oh, actually. What about instead of a traditional curtain rod, you get metal conduit (ex. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Allied-Tube-Conduit-3-4-in-EMT-Conduit-101550/100400406).. Or whatever normal curtain rod size is to fit in the bracket, amybe it's half inch, and bend it (conduit bender) to fit the ceiling. Bad pic, sorry for the crappy explanation... but one solid piece, bent to fit your corners, then brackets where the red lines are.
ETA: lol, nvm, there are probably more elegant real ways to do this. I spend a lot of time at home depot and automatically think of ways to engineer things up to work.

I would do those cellular shades that you can mount inside the frame and can raise up or lower down. My in laws have them, they're made by a German company, I think.

@PurplePumps: Actually, that might work. It kind of looks like this ... or I can attach the curtain rod on the actual sides so it's inches away from the actual window. That would work because 1) I can have stuff on the windowsill without having to move or remove them when the curtains are down 2) Since it's really mounted and not just a tension rod, I can have real black-out curtains for when we watch movies and 3) having a real rod means the curtain can get bunched up between the windows as well as the sides for symmetry and it wouldn't be in the way when we actually want the windows open (which would have been a problem with tension rods - all that fabric would just bunch up inside the window).
This is soooo much better than DH's idea: to install pull down blinds on the exposed beam closest to the window (it's not that close).

We have several windows that are on walls with slopes so we can't really use regular curtains because the windows are low and right at the ceiling. What I've done in the kids rooms is install blackout blinds and make curtains to fit the windows, hung on a tension rod. In one room the casings are deep enough that both the blinds and. Curtains fit at the top. Blinds in back obvs. In the other room the casings are not deep enough so the tension rod with curtain is at top and the blinds were installed slightly lower. The curtains I made are sheers so I leave the closed all the time and they left plenty of light through. I took an IKEA curtain, cut to fit the window and hem taped ribbon around the edges. Super easy.

@skipra: Thanks for that! I did not think about installing slightly lower (for the tight places). I actually have a whole spool of high grade blackout fabric that I was hoping to use - but this was before I realized there isn't enough room to hang a curtain regularly. But then of course I can just treat these windows different from the rest, but then I'm hesitant about not matching since there are more (regular) windows in the same room. Hmmm
