My LO loves The Snowy Day and Peter's Chair. Not sure if you have Amazon Prime video but they have a short film (30min?) based on The Snowy Day. It's really cute and features lots of diversity.

We just bought A is for Activist and Counting on Community. I recommend Community. Both are pushing an agenda, but Community makes more sense. @lawbee11: there's a page of a potluck in Community that reminds me of Snowy Day's movie ending.

I bought this book about a kid scientist https://www.amazon.com/Ada-Twist-Scientist-Andrea-Beaty/dp/1419721372 for a birthday girl.

Ada Twist, Scientist features a black main character. It's part of a series (Rosie Revere, Engineer and Iggy Peck, Architect are the others). The main characters in the other books are both white, but Iggy doesn't look at all girly and on the pages where it shows the whole class, it's very diverse. My DD really loves these books.

My almost five year old randomly stumbled onto "Jamaica and Brianna and the Dance of Speing" and chose it because it was about a dance recital; it introduced us to the whole series of Jamaica books by Juanita Havill. They're all pretty cute stories and feature a very racially diverse group of friends, but are more for the pre-K and up age.

It's not a main point of the story, but, in the Annie and Snowball/Henry and Mudge books, Annie lives with just her dad.

Princess! Fairy! Ballerina! features both black and white little girls playing together.

For younger kids, I think that the characters in Ella Sarah Gets Dressed are pretty racially ambiguous. If you're willing to look at animals as a metaphor of diversity, Wolfie the Bunny (about a rabbit family who unexpectedly adopt (and adore) a baby wolf) is sweet and very funny as well. The Wonderful Things You Will Be features lovely illustrations of all sorts of children

For LGBT options, Mama Mommy and Me is still a favourite at 2.5 even though it's a board book. A Tale of Two Mommies as well is really cute! A classic us And Tango Makes Three. Todd Parr also has a selection of books about diverse families and LGBT families but I've yet to buy any myself.

Lola at the Library! I love that book, and so does my son. I was actually just buying it for a gift on Amazon and noticed there are other Lola books I want to check out

My 3.5 year old loves Ada Twist, Scientist. For adoption, my sister (who adopted) gave us a Mother for Choco. It's cute and my oldest was obsessed for a few weeks, so it was a great way to introduce the idea that some families are created differently than ours.

I have Under the Ramadan Moon on my Amazon list. I haven't read it, but it was recommended to me for talking about a different religion.

Red, A Crayon Story - no human characters but it is all about a crayon who always feels as though he were born with the wrong wrapper on the outside (he is blue and always feels blue but his wrapper says red). And it's all about learning who you are and accepting who you are on the inside vs the out.

Those Shoes is another great picture book. Not only diverse but can help reflect on socio-economic differences (understanding the difference between a "want" and a "need").

Mrs. Katz and Tush by Patricia polacco is one of my favorites as well, but it is long and might be better for an older kid vs a toddler.

I just got my niece the book Last Stop on Market Street, I admit I didn't actually read it all before giving it to her but I think it's that type of book you're looking for!
