Anyone try the clear blue advanced opk's? When we ttc #1 I had problems with a short LH surge and never caught my positive opk. I'd see it get darker but not really positive. I tried the smileys and never got a positive but temped so I knew I was ovulating. I'm trying the clear blue advanced opk's that monitor estrogen and LH to see if it works better. Anyone use this or have an opinion? I think it's similar to the fertility monitor by clear blue but you don't have to splurge and buy a monitor.

I used the smiley ones when we were TTC last time. I never got a positive smiley. The next month I used the cheap Wondfos, got a positive ovulation test, and two weeks later got a positive pregnancy test. I am totally team Wondfo and kinda anti clear blue...

No experience with the clear blue advanced. Smiley worked for me.

@duchessdina: yes, I use & like the CBE Advanced b/c they test for both estrogen & LH, too. I think they seem accurate since I'm also charting, but I did just have a cycle where I skipped over my high fertility smileys (& previously have gotten several days of those) & straight to peak. Not sure what that was all about...

I used them. I have a pretty regular cycle so I probably could have gone without them, but, the high (flashing smiley) fertility indicator was really nice to have as a reminder to get busy. If you wait to get it on until you actually have your LH surge you've missed most of your fertile window already.
The downside with the Advanced ones is you can't just spot check your fertility status. They're meant to be taken progressively with the first one early enough in your cycle that you're definitely not having your estrogen surge yet. You really have to follow the directions for use for them to work.

@lilyofthewest: Thanks for the advice. I was planning to wait to start them but I guess maybe from what you said I might just follow the directions. I usually wait a few more days to start testing so I don't waste my time with a bunch of negatives but I don't want to miss the estrogen surge I guess. Thanks for the heads up.

So I started testing at cd 8 like the directions said and I got a high on cd 9... not sure what's up since last cycle I didn't o until cd 18. I'm a little skeptical already.

I've tried all the popular OPK's (CB monitor, CB advanced, CB smiley digital OPKs, wondfos) and found these to be the least reliable. If there's any issue at all with your hormone levels it won't work correctly and you'll miss your surge, whereas with Wondfos at least you can see the fade in. So I liked using Wondfos and then using the CB smileys to confirm when I thought I was surging. But as @lilyofthewest: said, you need to BD before you surge!

@duchessdina: fwiw I use the cb monitor and both months using it so far, last mth and this mth I had high days starting at 11 and 9 days. Still got my peak reading at cd 17 and cd18....
