I had surgery in April and was cleared by my RE that everything was fine and should get pregnancy quickly. He said if it did not happen within 2-3 cycles then I should come back to talk about Clomid or similar medication. What are your thoughts? Does it cause multiples?

Was your surgery related to TTC? Did he mean 2-3 cycles of trying total, or 2-3 more cycles? I haven't used Clomid but did IF treatments and it seems like there is an increased chance of multiples but more likely than not you won't have multiples. You should make sure your RE does good monitoring with the Clomid if you go that route. Hope your recovery is going well!

My doc said the risk of multiples is higher (8-10% twins, and <1% triplets +). Femara has a lower risk of multiples.
Other than that, I don't have any experience. I know tons of others on here do though. So, I'll let them take over.

I think if you could provide a little more info, people could give you some better advice. Like @SpanielLove: asked, was the surgery TTC related? Have you had further testing done? Are your cycles consistent?
Clomid does the trick for many! Pros and cons to each kind of fertility drug. I know it's a mental leap to start down that road, but some of us need a little (or a lot) of extra help in that department. Ask questions and communicate with your doctor.

I had surgery to remove a mass in my uterus and a cyst on my ovary. During the surgery he checked everything out and said everything looked and was good to go on trying. I have regular periods that only last 3-4 days. The only things working against me are my age (37), stress of trying for so long (2 1/2 years), and weight.

@mrsloving: my periods were (I'm now pregnant) short and light as well. During treatments, I had a hard time getting my lining to thicken up, so that is something I'm sure your doctor will keep on eye on for you through monitoring. Clomid is also tough on linings, so if that's an issue, Femara may be a better choice. I'm guessing he'll start you off on a lower dose, so risk of multiples won't be as high.
2-3 cycles in the long run isn't a long time, but I know it can feel like an eternity if you've been trying for awhile! If you want a little extra help now, I don't see that as being unreasonable.

@mrsloving: my periods were also short and light. My RE suspected I had a LP deficiency and put me on progesterone supplements. It works, and we got pregnant with our second child.
Clomid can cause multiples, so it's important that you be closely monitored. I had two mature follicles that both released eggs with this pregnancy, though we have one child.

I talked with DH about it last night and he asked if it would cause multiples, and I told him I'm not sure but I would find out. If we had multiples, I think his head would actually pop off his shoulders.

I had dd using clomid. I think with lower doses the chance of multiples is fairly low.

@mrsloving: My Dr had told me that it increases your chance of multiple by 9%.

@mrsloving: I don't remember the exact circumstances, but we had a 20-25% chane of multiples and had to sign a waiver/consent form.
If you're seeing an RE, they'll be able to answer all your questions and ease some fears!

I used clomid and it worked my first cycle using it and only have one little baby swimming in there! While it does increase your chance of multiples, it also increases your chances of getting pregnant!!
I was also nervous about multiples, mostly for financial reasons (two cribs?! two carseats!?) and some practical reasons (i only have two hands and two boobs...) but really, I was more nervous about not being able to conceive at all. For me, the pros WAY outweighed the risks, and let's be honest, twins are adorable and certainly are not a bad thing, just can be a little more difficult to manage, but every baby/situation is different and i'm sure some twins are easier than some singletons!

I started Clomid and on my last dosage for this cycle. My RE has put me on the highest dosage. He told me I would be lucky to even have one child. He's not around with dosage and leveling up. I have only three rounds of Clomid and after that if it doesn't work I'm left with nothing. We can't afford to go on past this. I pray that this works, cause I'm not sure how I could handle the reality of not being able to have a child.

We tried for 3-4 cycles without assistance to get pregnant. Still no pregnancy. The RE told me to come back if no success to get put on Clomid or Femura. I choose Clomid due to the options and based on my blood work, etc. I'm 37, and my levels are already on the downhill slide into menopause. I'm running out of time, at least it feels like it, and this is my last hope. Again, we can't afford to have IVF or adoption.

@mrsloving: I'm sorry--it sounds like a stressful time. Have you discussed the possibility of injectables+IUI with your doctor?

Today is CD 16 and I will be going in for an ultrasound. According to my OPK I have not ovulated with the highest dosage amount of Clomid on this cycle. Hopefully, I will find out why this afternoon.

DS1 was a Clomid baby. Just the 1. I think with the lower doses it really just compensates for what you may be lacking hormone wise.
Have you been temping as well as OPKs? Where there is an underlying issue or use of some medications the OPKs can be inaccurate.
