Silly question but can I dry my diaper inserts on high as long as everything with pul or elastic is hanging to dry? So prefolds, microfiber and hemp. I can't believe how long it takes to dry them!!!

I dry everything on low unless it's summer. I don't have time to air dry in the winter. The thirsties cotton inserts go for two rounds. I don't think high would hurt the cotton necessarily

Interesting you asked this, I was about to post something about drying my prefolds, inserts, and fitted diapers cause they take so dang long! It's probably a stupid question since I should just try both ways to see which I prefer, but I wanted to try a combo of line dry and dryer for the ones that take FOREVER and was wondering which goes first? My guess was to try line dry first and finish them in the dryer?
Anyways sorry that's not an answer to your question : )

I dry inserts on medium or high if I'm in a rush.

BTW I feel like there is something about having a newborn that makes me want to run EVERYTHING by someone else to check if my opinion is "correct."

@Cole: that's what I do. And hang up the hemp inserts to finish line drying since they're still damp.

@junebugsmama: I am right there with you on wanting to double check everything now with a new baby! When I do half line drying and half dryer I prefer dryer first because I don't mind letting the diapers finish drying in the nursery overnight. Of course I could also see the benefit of line drying them first because at least if you forget about them they will finish drying!
I ran the inserts on high hoping it would keep me from having to run it twice but no luck so I will go back to drying on medium and then hanging them to finish drying.

According to Fluff Love University, you can dry covers and inners in the dryer on high. You just have to make sure the diapers are completely cool before using them (it's stretching hot elastic that's bad).

@Cole: Just came on to ask the same thing! I have some AIO's drying in my kitchen and was thinking it would take about 3 years....

Our dryer is not fancy: it can be on or off. Ha. I imagine that's high heat. We dry the inserts on high. Everything else is hung on a drying rack.
**Unless I wait until the last minute to wash. Then everything goes in. Our diapers have held up really nicely.

@Skadi: Interesting! I only have flip covers and they dry super fast but that is good to keep in mind!
@knittylady: we had newborn aio's and three years sounds about right!

I always start my diaper wash cycle after nap (4 pm) so that they are dry and ready by the next day. I hang my covers and dry the inserts, prefolds and cloth wipes. I set the dryer on medium for 40 minutes, enough to dry them pretty well but I always hang them up overnight.
I've experimented with different amounts of time and heat settings but I still end up having to hang up everything!
