I'm going to send my clothes in to an online consignment shop and I'm trying to decide between ThreadUp and Swap.com. Which do you use and why? Any suggestions for others to use instead?

I use Threadup no reason really. The return is so small though so I sell to consignment shops more often

@youboots: I thought shipping to them was free--but it looks like they deduct something (unclear how much) from your proceeds. Do you know how much they deduct?

@babybean404: I don't think it's a standard deduction. But if they are able to sell a shirt for $10, they for example will only give you six or five

Thred Up is $9.95 for shipping, I'm pretty certain. Don't use them. I sent them a TON of stuff, all but one or two items were accepted, and after the $9.95 was deducted I made $1.12. I was SO mad!

I haven't used either, but if you google, you'll see tons of people saying thredup rips off sellers. I've heard lots of recommendations to buy from them but not sell to them. Not sure how swap is.

I was pissed about thred up, the amount I got was so tiny. I wish I had better understood sites like kidizen and poshmark then because while it would have been more work I would have made way more. I thought though it was free to send stuff in but you got charged if you wanted back the stuff they didn't take.

I was so upset about thread up. I sent in a huge bag of tons of name brand clothes- banana republic, loft, Ann Taylor, gap, etc tons of really nice sweaters and dress clothes in great condition.
I got .60 cents.
I will never send them my stuff again.
I can't say anything about any other sites though!

Thanks everyone. I think I'm just going to donate everything to our local PTA thrift shop. I've been to 3 consignment stores and they've taken probably 1/4 of what I had, I think it would just piss me off to send the other stuff in and get nothing for it!

I've sent to thredup twice and got 20-25 both times. I was happy with that because I was just going to take the stuff to goodwill
