My 21 month old just had a massive freak out... because we wouldn't let her eat dinner at her picnic table? She was hot? Itchy? Wanted a popsicle?
I know this will be the first of many, but MAN was it exhausting. My husband eventually brought her downstairs where she calmed down, but she didn't even eat her dinner! Sigh. Putting her to bed right away.
This is totally normal right? Right?

Yep, she's just a toddler. Their fits are mighty and generally make no sense.

Yep - we had a doozy one tonight too... completely normal!! I just had to laugh it off and started videotaping him. He's only 18 months. Gonna use it as blackmail one day. Maybe sneak it into his wedding slideshow.

normal...we had our 1st big one at 21 months on sunday, she was so ticked off about something, no idea what, 1/2 hr of screaming and crying and stomping around, not fun, then she came out with my husband's shoes happy as a clam. no rhyme or reason.

Geez those of you who made it to 20 months are lucky!!! My crazy strong willed boy's been doing this for months and he's only 17 months! Tonight it was because I wouldn't let him run in the tub and then the dogs wouldn't come in the tub.

Extremely normal. The littlest things to us are huge for a toddler trying to navigate in this big world around them that they're beginning to understand.
We had a big one last night during his shower. He was done, that was it. So much screaming. DH was on the phone with his grandma. His phone call ended promptly, then LO was prepared for bedtime, then slept like a champ.
Most of his tantrums happen when he's tired or overtired. It's the toddler version of sleep cues. If given the chance, he would stay up all night. Once he starts acting up, bedtime or naptime routine starts next.

Yep, normal! We had a big tantrum this weekend because I offered my DS his morning milk?! Cue 20 seconds later after I shrugged and put it on the counter that he ran over and began sobbing because he wanted milk.....toddlers baffle me sometimes.

We're just starting to deal with this now at 13 months. She was so upset with Daddy for taking the keys off her (to lock the door, might I add - we were all on our way out), she smashed him three times in the face, ripped his glasses off and threw them across the hall!

If you made it to 20 months you are lucky!! R has been throwing tantrums since 13 months.

Yup very, very normal. And congrats on making it to 20m without any tantrums. My LO is only 16.5m and has been going strong for months now!
