We don't do true daycare, so maybe it is different, but for "school" (basically half day daycare when they were younger), I prefer to have each girl's items in their own small backpack since they go to different rooms. On days that for whatever reason all the crap they needed to take in overflowed their small bags, I used an extra tote bag for things like water bottles and just left those in their respective rooms. Blankets/towels on water day didn't fit in the backpack, so I either shoved them under my stroller if we walked or brought a tote for them.

If it makes it easier for you to carry, you can hook the bags together through their top loops with a large carabiner.

We are at an in home provider but we do have 2 kiddos going there. At this time DD just carries her naptime blank and pillow (pillow dog) and we have a cooler bag for DS's premade bottles. We don't have to supply lunches and things such as changes of clothes and sunscreen are stored there so we only take those things to "replenish" when needed.

Right now, for sure two. DD1 has back pack with lunch bag. She comes home with papers, artwork, dirty clothes, etc. DD2 has her own bag with breastmilk, pacifier, etc. Plus right now they don't get picked up at the same time.

The baby uses an LL Bean tote bag with her lunch box and daily notebook and any extra supplies they need.

The preschooler has a lunch bag and a backpack. The backpack lives at school and only comes home on weekends. It's just his extra clothes. When he has artwork or whatever come home it just goes in he baby's tote.

one large tote bag we left in DDs class on her hook that could fit her stuff plus her brothers smaller bag, that way we only had to carry in the one big bag each morning.
