This is kind of a spin off of a post a couple of weeks ago about how DD was having a hard time transitioning to the two's room. This morning she walked in and immediately walked over to her friends and started playing. This is a stark contrast to her being clingy and crying every other day. The only difference is the teacher's older school age daughter wasn't sitting in the room like always. So now I am convinced that DD is afraid of her. She doesn't interact, just plays on her tablet until the bus leaves. Should I say something or just wait for DD to get used to the older girl? Will she get used to her?

I think that's a huge leap to make. I would give it a few days and then I would talk to the teacher first about whether your DD seems to avoid the older girl. It sounds like the older girl is respectful and quiet, so what would you expect the teacher to do if that really is the issue?

@kiddosc: I don't know. I think it is weird that she sits in her mom's classroom all morning until the bus leaves rather than going in her own classroom. She is in fourth grade and has admitted she just sits in that room because the Wifi is better.

@Ms. RV: weird or not, if she's not being disruptive or interacting with the kids in the room at all I think it's overboard to ask that she leave.

Yeah, that sounds like a pretty big leap. I'd suspect its more likely that your daughter is adjusting. Glad that it went better today!

That is a huge leap to make. The girl isn't being disruptive - why would you want her to leave? Why is it weird that she's sitting in her mother's classroom quietly until the bus leaves?
There's no reason to ask her to leave
