@KayKay: For us it was mostly stubborness when we went through bottle strike. BUT I did decided we didn't like the medela b/c the flow was too fast & we felt like she was also taking in a lot of gas. We switched to Avent bottles and we like them for her a lot better, with the newborn nipple still and I see the air going back into the bottle instead of int her!

@winniebee: you made it! hurrah! do you feel like super-mom?
@snowjewelz: yeah, i'm pretty sure it is just stubbornness, especially she had been taking them fine up until 2 weeks ago! i'm only a little worried -- since i stay home with her, it's not an issue very often, but just annoying whenever we have a sitter. i figure when i take my vacation away from her for a week later this summer, she'll have no choice but to give in if she wants to eat. it'd be nice to not play bottle chicken, though. i actually tried a faster nipple (i have fast letdown), thinking the slow flow was too slow...but still she just plays with it and spits it back out.

K is suffering with overnight gas something horrible! I started back using mylicon in her bottles this morning. It wakes her up and she just screams. I really hope it's not our bottles (Avent), I really do not want to go to Dr Browns (too many parts!).
We also can't get her to sleep in her crib (or PnP). I asked her daycare teacher this morning what their secret was - they don't have one - she's a great self soother! Show-off! They lay her on her back, she immediately flips and scoots herself into the corner of the crib and goes to sleep.
And for fun, the big kid wet her bed this morning. Something she hasn't done in over three months. A load of laundry wasn't the extra thing I was looking to do this morning.
We head out of town for the weekend on Thursday night. I sure hope we all survive K might also hate her carseat/car. It's a 4 hour drive.

@KayKay: they really make you sweat! I was super worried b/c I was going back to work and tried every trick in the book. The "popular" tricks didn't really work for us. For example she likes to be held instead of putting her somewhere. And she was fine with me being around or even me feeding her; if she was fussy about it she was just fussy period. I found that she likes the milk warmer than when it comes out of me (since I've given it to her freshly pumped). I was prepared to battle it out with her and let her go hungry if it had to get to that. It's funny b/c now on the weekend she doesn't seem to want the boob now!

@MamaG: We use Avent too and it doesn't seem to cause too much gas problems! She is gassy but not over the norm. And wow, she's so great at daycare! I'm telling you, babies are smart... I think she knows on one will do much for her there so it's better off for her to figure it out lol. At home she knows she's got her mama so she wants nothing to with the crib lol! Is it just bright at daycare? Maybe try to re-create the conditions there?
I hope you have good road trip! K doesn't love being in the car either. But if it's continuous highway it should be ok. K just cries when the car stops haha.

@KayKay: No, but @winniebee suggested them to me, as one of her friends had success with them I have yet to add them to our arsenal, I hope your LO gets back on track, we are in bottle war ...as I call it too!
@snowjewelz: Right?? It is good for them to get used to other people.... Does K show preference yet?? I notice G is more relaxed with my mom and gets scared when MIL and BILs hold her if I or Dh are not in sight... as they see her once every few weeks, where my mom sees her 1-3 times a week....def need to add more inlaw time!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MamaG: Awww how funny how they "show off" for others... lol
We are currently flipping around like a fish in the crib when we should be napping.....lol
eggplant / 11861 posts
How are naps going? Are your LOs able to go down on their own if put in a crib/swing........that is a no go around here these days???
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: K had been at church since she was 2 mo and passed around like a hot potato every Sunday haha so she is doing pretty well with strangers/crowds. She doesn't show preference yet, thank goodness! I think that comes a lil later (hopefully). She basically just perks up more to people she recognize, but seems oblivious to whoever else may be holding her, for now!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: Ha ha, Kara has yet to put herself to sleep yet! I'm dreading sleep training! We have to hold her to sleep first and then put her down and even then, sometimes she wakes up -__-
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: I thought so too, but G definitely gave MIL a pout lip the other day and then cried......
pomelo / 5298 posts
@FaithFertility: She can put herself to sleep in the swing (or at daycare apparently!) and she'll fall asleep being held without any special rocking or bouncing. She seems to be struggling with stringing together sleep cycles as she rarely sleeps much longer than 40 minutes at a time.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MamaG: She used to be able to fall asleep in swing, but now it is just talk to the puppy mobile time... lol
Yeah I hear ya naps are rarely ever past 40mins
I am thinking of getting some black out curtains for her room to mimic nighttime more since she is able to put her self back top sleep at night? And can at times go down drowsy if she wakes after feeding.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: lol, sometimes it could just be something random that put her off. Poor MIL!
We are so ghetto.. I wasn't sure if black out shades would help and didn't want to invest $ into anything, so DH taped up garbage bags hahahah. We only have 2 small windows. I think it helps her go down faster that it's dark. Otherwise she gets distracted and wants to look around.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: No your Smart... lol she only has 1 window so I might try that first

@KayKay: my friend had very good luck with the comotomos when her son was refusing. Are you giving fresh or frozen milk? Any chance frozen milk is the issue?
pear / 1961 posts
@winniebee: have tried both. First couple that were a problem were fresh or fresh rewarmed. Last night was frozen. Basically she will take 2-3 oz...just enough to take the edge off. But not enough to sleep a normal stretch. I also might try having her take it in the bouncy chair instead of someone holding her. Gah babies!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@KayKay: K is easily distracted, half the time I feed her like I'm putting her to sleep... In her nursery, dark, shushing, swaying, lol! If we're out, she has to face the wall or face something really boring so she can't be distracted haha! These babies really make us work! And after every oz or so she needs to take a break and burp and what not. So high maintenance haha!
pear / 1961 posts
@snowjewelz: i think e is like one of those girls who is totally high maintenance but swears she isn't
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@FaithFertility: he goes down pretty quickly with a swaddle paci and some light rocking. But is usually up 40 mins later unless we are in the carseat....randomly will do a long nap at home. He doesn't sleep at all in the swing it's too fun I guess! I won't nap train until he is out of the swaddle and in the crib.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: sucks about the gas! We've had good luck with playtex drop in nursers. We haven't even attempted crib so you've got a leg up even just trying! Hope your trip goes well!

on mondays it takes me forever to catch up with this thred!
anyone having any issues with lo peeing through their diapers at night? M did it twice so I switched to a bigger size diaper (pampers swaddlers) and it happend again last night! It sucks because I have to get him up and strip him down and change his clothes and he hates it.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@whenoceansrise: It might be time to try an overnight diaper. We use Huggies Overnites on Xander.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Parents of 2+: how do you feel like you split your time? I was thinking that I had a good weekend this weekend, but looking back, I really didn't spend that much time with Logan. I played with Xander a TON and got in a bunch of quality time with him, but when I wasn't nursing Logan, I wasn't interacting with him nearly as much, and he got almost zero one-on-one time with me besides nursing. Now I feel bad.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@whenoceansrise: A second vote for buggies overnights. However, they don't start until size 3. Until then you might use Pampers Baby Dry. That's what we did with my first though leaks haven't been much of an issue this time around.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Adira: Don't feel bad there is only so much time you have! In general, Ryan gets more of my attention. But it's mostly because my husband jumps in with Ty whenever he is home so I'm mostly caring for Ryan. Also since Ty is almost 3 he is getting more independent and doesn't need me to play as much.

@whenoceansrise: Ethan pees through diapers unless I use the Pampers Swaddlers in size 3 (he's in 2's normally but will be in 3's once I run out). I actually bought one pkg of those just for overnight and use LUVs the rest of the time, (they do not survive the night). MOTN changes wake him up so I'm not changing him unless I absolutely have to!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@FaithFertility: Ethan will fall asleep in the swing, and sometimes if he's doing tummy time on the play mat. Otherwise he has to be rocked/nursed to sleep. I've tried the crib a few times and no luck.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
Had a small amount of dairy over weekend. One choc chip cookie (dairy was only in the chips) and took cheese off pizza last night but there were a few specs I'm sure. Ryan happy today but gassy and green funky poop. Probably should stay away...

@josina: You must have been so surprised to see him on his back! J rolled over twice about 2 weeks ago and hasn't done it since. These babies and their tricks!
@winniebee: so glad your husband is home. That is some serious super-mom stuff!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@MamaG: Great that she sleeps well at daycare but that's so frustrating at the same time! We're about to start potty training the big kid around here. I'm totally dreading it
@FaithFertility: Naps are really tough. He doesn't want to be rocked or anything so I have to put him down he falls asleep but there's crying involved. Breaks my heart. He does fine putting himself to sleep for the night and after night feeds, but naps are bad.
@Adira: It's so hard to divide your time! When I'm alone with the kids M has to be patient because I'm nursing J a lot, but she definitely gets more attention when it's play time. I try to point out the times that J has to wait because I'm helping her "just a minute baby J! I need you to wait because I'm helping M with her lunch right now!" (I forget which blogger recommended that).
I try to leave J here with DH and take Molly to do errands or for a playdate with a friend when I can. It's hard!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: I was going to ask you how the dairy is going. I had some dairy about 2 weeks ago and J got really congested so I stopped. Now I think it was probably just a cold, but he's getting his 4 month shots tomorrow so I'm going to wait before trying any more. I'm such a wimp!
I want pizza and ice cream
persimmon / 1050 posts
@MrsF: Good luck with the shots tomorrow.
@winniebee: Glad DH is home.
We took M to get Easter bunny pics done & surprisingly, he didn't cry.
