We seem to be on the other side of this regression/growth spurt. Our extra feeding wasn't needed yesterday and she slept like a champ. I've finally been able to experience this "self soothing" that her teacher kept claiming she was great at.
And while she's a fan of her pacifier she's clearly not dependent upon it. At 1:00am, she was fussy so I went to replace her pacifier, it only made her more mad. I let her be and she worked it out on her own in a couple of minutes. Her big sister was very pacifier dependent and we did the replacing shuffle many nights until she learned to put it in herself.
For the crib sleepers in the group, do you have bumpers? I think we are going to need the breathable ones that I was hoping to avoid. K likes to be in the corner of the PnP (and her school crib). When we unsuccessfully tried the crib at home, she'd get an arm or leg caught in the slats and get angry.

@snowjewelz: That's a great stretch! Hopefully now she'll just stop waking up even a little and sleep straight through.

@MamaG: I haven't gotten any bumpers yet since she's in her merlin and doesn't move around much! I heard there are these things called wonder bumpers that are good but they are also expensive! http://amzn.com/B008COEGCE

@Adira: I know, I wonder if I make her sleep in her crib, then I won't even know she's stirring and maybe she can work it out herself. But the catch 22 is, she might not stay asleep in her crib to begin with!

@snowjewelz: I like the look of the wonder bumpers, but I don't think they would fix our problem. She gets her foot or hand through and then gets mad because she can't figure out how to get it back out.
I really like this and might give it a try (though it's also a little pricey). http://justbornforbaby.com/baby/fresh-air-crib-liner/

@snowjewelz: I hear you. I keep thinking about moving Logan to his crib, but then I'm afraid he'll stir and I won't respond quickly enough and he'll fully wake up!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: Oh gotcha~ That way her limbs can't stick out!
@Adira: Or it will give them space/time to work it out themselves... Ugh, decisions decisions! I mean, eventually they gotta go in the crib. But I just love not having to leave the room to tend to her!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Me too! Especially because Logan's room is upstairs and our room is downstairs. Not looking forward to having to go up and down the stairs in the middle of the night for random wake-ups...

@snowjewelz: Yay for a good night of sleep! Ethan nursed at 1 and 4 so an improvement over the 3x he usually does.
@Adira: @snowjewelz: I 'should' put Ethan in his crib now, its only 10 ft away from my bed, but that means I actually have to get OUT of bed at night to get him and I'm lazy! And I selfishly love having him right next to me. I kinda want him to be sleeping longer stretches first...
I did 'try' the crib again last night when he was sleepy, he talked to his mobile for a few minutes and then cried, I comforted once and left and then we had a scream fest so I quit again. Should stick to it one of these nights.

@josina: I know, I kinda like getting that first morning smile too when she's right next to me!

I'm so over this bottle thing, I need a break and I am going to try for bottle boot camp, DH swears she can't suck a bottle and is getting sooo frustrated...
I think this weekend I'm going guns out!

@theotherstark: ohhh h she loves her lovey I forgot about that...going to give it to her next feeding!!
@MamaG: Yay for good sleep! We have the breathable ones on our crib, I like them but pain in the butt to put on since our crib has a changer on the side
@snowjewelz: Nice sleep K!!!
@josina: Better sleep, hopefully he continues

@FaithFertility: Go away for a whole day! And don't check in so you will feel bad! And whoever that's gonna battle it out with her needs to be strong willed and patient! You can do it!

@mrsf: @winniebee: super distracted nurser over here too. And yes, having a 3 year old racing around, hooting and hollering in the background does not help! I try to feed E down in her room...and try to tell K to be quiet when she inevitably comes with, but it's usually a losing battle. Sometimes it helps to have E play with my finger or hold my hand, but other times she just arches her back to look at whatever is more exciting. Then I give up and try again later. We actually have been feeding more like 2-2.5 hrs apart lately (instead of 3) to make sure she eats enough during the day, and it seems like a distracted feeding is usually followed by a focused one.
@banddmommy: glad she is back to normal sleep!
I think I'm bailing on the zipadeezip. It works fine, but we did a regular sleep sack last night and did great. She chews on the hands of the zipadeezip and it gets gross really quick! I'm all about less laundry

@mamag: we don't have bumpers. E likes to smooth her little face right to the edge of her crib a lot, but no limbs through, so I'm just going without.

@adira: I've got two flights between me and E at night. it's definitely a pain!!

@theotherstark: that's a good idea - I'll try to give him one of the little taggie blankets or something. Thanks!
(and wow about the size 3 diapers! I think that J is probably ready for 3s, but I hope he'll be in them for a long time)
@snowjewelz: that's great that she slept so long!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@MamaG: sounds like all good things!!
We don't use bumpers now but J doesn't move very much yet. We never used them with M though, so I don't expect to use them this time.
@FaithFertility: That's so stressful about the bottles. I'm sorry

Super random. For hot weather babes, or for upcoming summer for the general public, will babies just go around bare feet since it's not like their feet will touch anything? Or put on shoes for fashion purposes? If so, what kinda shoes? What size are they gonna be?!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@snowjewelz: Mine will be mostly barefoot. She got some robeez style shoes for Easter and just kicks them off. Even socks are off her feet half the time.
I'm not sure what our daycare policy is for certain, but I do know as a walker she will need shoes. I'm not sure if they require them earlier.
C didn't really wear shoes (just socks or barefoot) until she was a walker at 13 months.
eta: I love the cuteness factor of barefoot sandals, so we might end up with a couple of those.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: We go barefoot in house a lot, now that she puts toes in mouth I put socks/shoes on her out and about.....I like Old navy's shoes 3/6 months size were her Easter ones!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@snowjewelz: for us - either socks or just barefoot. I didn't bother with shoes for M until she was about 1 (and only then because it was getting cold! - she didn't walk until 15 months)
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: @FaithFertility: @MrsF: I feel like she'll need shoes when we see people... I can totally see ppl grabbing/touching her feet nonstop! They already do with socks on now lol!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Xander was always barefoot as a baby in the summer! Logan will be the same.

I our house were pretty much always barefoot, but I do send her to daycare in socks. I just feel like her feet are still way too tiny for real shoes.

G has learned to yell....lol it is so funny! She does it when she is excited
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@FaithFertility: Ahhh!! So cute!!! Love these babies always learning new things!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
So of course, 1 step forward, 2 steps back! K has never done this before but she was up for almost 2 hrs from 2-4 last night! She has never not gone back to sleep quickly MOTN! I sure hope it's just a one time thing...

@snowjewelz: Yikes!!!! I hope so for you too!!! We had a weird night as well!

@FaithFertility: Too cute.
M decided this morning he doesn't like bottles & they are nasty (makes the OMG this is so yucky face!). Took about 45 min to get him to drink a 3 oz bottle. Hope this doesn't continue.
