@whenoceansrise: If he won't stay asleep, what about keeping it high, and put him in asleep, and just have the monitor by you so you can get to him when he wakes before he starts getting up? Or like what @Adira says... Maybe do it a few times at home to see how he does?
nectarine / 2053 posts
@Adira: @snowjewelz: i think he doesn't like it because the mattress is so hard. do you cushion it at all to make it more comfortable?
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: I know they sell pack and play mattresses. She doesn't really sleep in it, but I layer it with a thick blanket.

@whenoceansrise: I highly recommend the pack and play. That's what we did for C when we travelled up until she was about 2.5 and too big. When we went on vacation in July we used hotel cribs most nights and one night was a pack and play. That night was her BEST sleep of the whole vacation.

K had her 9 month check up this morning. I thought this was a shot visit, but it wasn't. So now I'm just confused why the ped suggested pushing it out further from her HFM outbreak. Nonetheless, she did end up getting her first flu shot. She's a big girl! She's 28.25" long and 25 lb 4 oz. She's tracking near C at the same age. C was 24 lbs 12 oz and 29" long.
And while I fully intended to talk to the ped about her formula (soy) and acid reflux meds, before I knew it he was gone and I didn't ask. I hate that!

@whenoceansrise: I have a quilted pack 'n play mattress cover that I use that helps give it more padding. I think that helps?
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: Big girl! That's why I like our doctor now, he would sit there and talk forever if we let him haha. I totally have doctors tho that are just in a rush and in & out!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@MamaG: I do that every time! I always blank when the dr. is there. Then I turn to the bee for answers.
Big girl = healthy!!

@whenoceansrise: we have sheets that are quilted for pnp they definitely give it some fluff

@MamaG: Perfect girl! She is adorable, with her little warrior mark.....lol

DH is home today and texting me that he wants to go pick up G early.....lol soooo sweet!

@FaithFertility: aww, can't get enough of her!
Since K is always with family, all day long pics of her gets sent back and forth lol
I used to facetime her but not anymore since she is now glued to me lol

@MamaG: Holy smokes, big baby!! Xander, who's 2.5, is only 26 lbs, haha.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@Adira: I know, my girls grow big and quick. At 2, C was 39 lbs. They take after their Dad who is tall and very broad. Not that I claim to be petite either At 4, C could easily pass for nearly 6.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MamaG: haha, yeah, Xander's definitely petite - my husband is a shorty too, so I know who to blame.
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@MamaG: big girl!! Good job, mama H was 28.75 in at his 6 mo appt, so I'm curious how tall he is now!! And I totally always forget to ask questions at the dr! So annoying.
@whenoceansrise: we just had my mom borrow a pnp for him to sleep in. It's nice you have one to take! Definitely lower it if you think he'll be pulling up!! Yikes. Don't want him tumbling out. If he wakes up when you put him in, just try rubbing his back or tummy or something to get him back to sleep.
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@whenoceansrise: oh, and I think 'they' say firmer surfaces for sleeping are better, anyway, so maybe you don't need to get another pad or anything? How long will he be on it?
pomelo / 5298 posts
@theotherstark: I knew H always looked long, wow. I bet he's going to be over 30 inches already. He's going to be one tall boy!

@whenoceansrise: the first time we traveled we had K sleep in our travel crib the week before to make sure she was used to it. And it def is a pain to reach all the way in!

G crawled Like a foot but it was a crawl!!!!!!!
She also for the first time went from laying on her back to getting up to sit!!!!!!
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@MamaG: I know, it scares me. Haha. he is already dangling off of our table and desk, etc. and trying to climb the sides. He is going to be able to reach higher and fall farther! Yikes. And he is growing out of clothes like crazy. I should have known, though, since my husband and I are both tall.
@FaithFertility: aww, yay. Those daddies, they are such suckers for their babes. It is so cute.

@whenoceansrise: We got a travel crib that has a zipper on the side for easy access, though we put him down awake & he falls asleep on his own (eventually lol).
@MamaG: Big girl! I always forget stuff too. I was planning on asking about transitioning to cows milk after 1 (just so I can start planning stuff) and I spaced on it.

We are planning a trip to SeaWorld this month as I get a free educator pass and this month DH is free due to law enforcement pass
I am nervous too with sleep at night in a small room in PNP, but 1,night won't hurt right?!?!

@whenoceansrise: J sleeps in the pack'n'play when we travel. He's normally pretty awake when i put him down though so that's not an issue.
@MamaG: Sounds like a good visit! J has his 9 month appointment tomorrow - I'm so curious about his weight!
@FaithFertility: Nice work G! J is crawling now too. Amazing how it happens overnight

Ugh, I'm worried Logan might be developmentally behind on some things... We have our annual re-enrollment paperwork to fill out for daycare and part of it is a questionnaire for the "Watch Me Grow" program to assess your child's development. There's a bunch of stuff that I think maybe 9 month olds should be able to do, that he doesn't...
Examples:
"If you copy the sounds your baby makes, does your baby repeat the same sounds back to you?"
"Does your baby follow one simple command, such as 'Come here,' 'Give it to me,' or 'Put it back,' without your using gestures?"
"When you hold out your hand and ask for his toy, does your baby offer it to you even if he doesn't let go of it?"
Bleh!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@Adira: Huh?!? The command thing with no gesture I am not sure of?
I always gesture ??? If I say give it to me I extend my arm/hand??
I wouldn't worry, if pedi is OK, I wouldn't worry!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@FaithFertility: We have his 9 month appointment next week, so I'll have to ask!! And totally agree - the not gesturing is rough! I'm worried he's not learning the meaning of things yet... gahh.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@Adira: Jack doesn't do ANY of those things. On a handful of times I've thought maybe he was trying to copy a sound, but I'm not really sure about that.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MrsF: Well that makes me feel better then! Maybe this questionnaire is just whacked.
pear / 1961 posts
@adira: i wouldn't say that E routinely does #2 from your list below. although now that you brought it up, i'm going to test it more! i always hate filling out those questionnaires at the dr office bc there is no way in hell i can try them all out like they say to if i haven't been noticing them at home. we are waiting for new health insurance to be effective before i take E in for her 9 month visit anyways (we'll be about a month late), so we have lots of time to test.
ETA: and she really just started imitating well in the last week or so! she has a diaper rash, so i have been blowing on her when i change her to make sure everything's totally dry before re-diapering...and she started blowing air back at me too. haha.
pear / 1961 posts
@whenoceansrise: you could also see about buying a cheap (or used) PNP and leaving it at your moms if it's going to be a place you go more often. we have a PNP mattress at both grandparents bc i didn't think K slept very well on the skinny one that comes with it. i think they are technically "not allowed" for safety reasons, but we didn't make the switch until she was a year and moving around a lot.
