@KayKay: I think I just need to interact with Logan more... he gets neglected because of Xander!!
And if anyone's curious, here's the questionnaire:

@winniebee: for weaning, i would just start offering breastmilk/formula/WCM/whatever in a cup with meals instead of doing whatever feeding is around that same time. with K, we did BM first, so just switched from BM bottles to BM cups for all of her daycare feeds at the same time. then around...11 months maybe? started doing some WCM or almond milk for a couple and gradually transitioned them all to milk/water as my frozen BM stash ran out. I think I dropped a pump (or feed) a week or so? And never had any problems. I dropped the afternoon/early evening ones first since my supply was always lower then. I can't remember if I dropped the morning or bedtime one last...I think it was bedtime.

@FaithFertility: Life is sooo much better when they can just do what they want now instead of crying for someone to change position for them, haha! Yaay! And yeah, I wouldn't worry about 1 night even if sleep is off.
@Adira: I'd also only be concerned it his doctor is! I usually give a command with a gesture (cuz it's weird not to...?) Except for "no no" but then I still shake my head.

@adira: true! plight of the second child!
is pre-reading the questionnaire like cramming for a test? ha

I am so evil now... If she's whining to me I make her say mama first, lol. DH is thoroughly jealous, and I'm just soaking it up. I just looooove that she will come crawling over, pull up to stand and just cling onto me when I'm home. This def doesn't make me get in a hurry to have #2 b/c I am just so obsessed with her!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@Adira: E doesn't do any of those either...
"If you copy the sounds your baby makes, does your baby repeat the same sounds back to you?"
If he's saying dadadada and I say dadada he keeps saying dadadada, but not because of me most likely? Odd question.
The only 'command' we're working on is NO. Give it to me or put it back are a stretch I think?
I don't think you need to worry yet. We are at the beginning of 9 months also, so maybe this is stuff he will learn this month?
@snowjewelz: Aww, I'm so jeolous she says mama on purpose. I keep trying to get E to do this and no success yet. His favorite is dadadada lately.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: for some reason K is not keen on the dada sound. Her favorite is bababa, and these weird psssss sounds, and now like a waffff wovvv thing going on, haha
K totally knows what she isn't supposed to do! My mom says she will look at her before doing something "naughty" haha, and she seems to know what "no" means, as she'll stop/pause.
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@snowjewelz: lol, yes E is definetly learning no. I had to tell him no this morning as he's pulling over the bathroom garbage. He always stops to look at me.
8 hour stretch last night!! Whoop whoop. 2nd ever. He did wake at 1 but got back to sleep on his own.

@josina: That's true! He just turned 9 months, so maybe he'll learn a lot this month. And yay for sleep!!

Gosh, I don't think Ryan follows any commands!? He knows his name I think? Or maybe it's because I'm shouting "RYAN" in his direction!? He will repeat dada and baba at me if I do it back I guess? He is 9 mos on the 9th.

@winniebee: haha, okay, it sounds like a lot of our babies are in the same boat! I know Logan understands SOME things because when I worked late this week, I'd get home and Hubs would tell him "Mama's home!" and he'd get all excited, even before he saw me, so I think he at least knows who Mama is...

We had the cutest moment at dinner tonight. I had the hiccups and every time I would hiccup both of the kids would start giggling. I kept hiccuping louder and they were just cracking up together laughing at me. I haven't really seen them doing something *together* before where it seemed like they were both on the same team. It felt like the first time of many that they were ganging up on me

Only a matter of time before those kiddos germs get to me

@FaithFertility: I hope you're feeling better soon! It's so hard to be sick as a mom. Those kids do NOT care.

Not sure what's going on with K. She's been fussy for a few days. I've thought teething. Today she only took a 20 minute nap and is completely hoarse tonight. Dh didn't get any real information at pick up. I'm preparing for a poor night.

@FaithFertility: I hope you get some rest tonight! At least it's 3 day weekend!
@MrsF: That is so adorable!
@MamaG: I hope you are wrong! Maybe she will be so tired and pass out all night!

@MamaG: I hope you're wrong and you all get some sleep! We've had some disrupted sleep lately too. I'm thinking it's a combination of milestones and teeth.

Just went to rock her as she was fussy. Given her hoarseness I struggle to let her work it out. Her bed is so wet with drool. And the few minutes I rocked with her she soaked my shirt. Just read her daycare note and it said she wasn't herself today.
Flu shot reaction? No fever.

@MamaG: How did the night go? Poor girl.
@FaithFertility: Boo! Hope you feel better soon!
@MrsF: That is adorable!!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@josina: Actually better than expected. It wasn't perfect sleep (for her) but it was better than the two prior nights. She's still pretty hoarse this morning and she's definitely congested. I think the congestion/drainage is what's impacting her voice.

I finally got a mama out of D. So her words are dada, baba, no and now mama. She does the cutest thing now, when you say her name, she stops what she's doing turns towards you and gives you the biggest cheeseball smile. She is currently obsessed with her brother. Apparently he is hysterical. She can't get enough of him. And she tries to pet the dog which does not go well. Our dog is mean to kids but that doesn't stop either B or D. She also feeds Pedro and waves at him from her high chair. I can't believe she will be 10 months soon. I'm starting to work on weaning her because mama is tired of EBF. Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend! Be safe if you are traveling!!

@FaithFertility: Yikes!!! Sorry you're sick!
@MrsF: Awwww, so cute!!! Love when the two of them laugh together!
@MamaG: Definitely could be from the flu shot. Or she's sick from something else. Poor baby.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@MamaG: Glad that her sleep was better than you expected. I hope she's feeling better!
@BandDmommy: So cute! Are you trying to wean to formula or just dropping some feeds and replacing with solids? I'm still trying to figure out how this transition is going to work...
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@BandDmommy: Aww, love all her words and her cheesy smile!
E with our pets is funny.. our lab puppy loves him and E swats him away when he comes over, but then the cat hates him and he's constantly chasing her and squeezing her if he can catch her! Its too funny.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: Aww poor girl!
@BandDmommy: Oh K goes RIGHT for the tail! My dog is very docile too, but hates kids, so the dog runs away hahaha! Hope weaning goes well!
I am so tired of pumping, and my supply has been SO low lately that I'm only getting like 1.5 bottles
pomelo / 5660 posts
@MrsF: dropping feeds. She has such a short attention span for nursing that I don't think she will care.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: I feel guilty to stop though! Plus right now it's great for when we're out since I can still nurse. If I stop pumping I don't know if I'd have enough to nurse otherwise! It's just discouraging that all the work that goes into pumping is yielding less and less!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: On the weekends, do you have to supplement at all? Or is she still getting enough from nursing?
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: She doesn't seem dissatisfied at all.. Usually I'll put formula in her cup and let her drink some after nursing if we're home. But I can't imagine she's getting much from my boobs either, b/c they really feel quite empty. I figure if she drinks less 2 days a week, it'll be fine since she eats 3 full meals daily anyway...
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Well, the longer we do this, the less full our boobs feel - I never notice that engorged feeling anymore and during the day, they never feel like they are getting full between feeds, though I know they are filling with milk. So the "feel" of your boobs, isn't a good indication of how full they actually are. It's possible you just don't respond well to your pump, or maybe your pump's motor is dying and the suction isn't as good as it used to be and that's why you aren't producing as much as before. You could always try not pumping during the day and just nursing morning and night. You may have to give formula during the day on weekends though, though I know some women can continue nursing on the weekends even when they aren't pumping all day during the week. Or you could be a crazy person like me and just pump even more to try to get your supply back up!
