@Adira: I probably wouldn't call unless he seems to be having trouble breathing or isn't able to nurse well. If he's fairly content and having plenty of wet diapers I would think you're fine.

So I swaddled her last night and wanted to nurse to sleep but then she was screaming and wouldn't latch on! Ended up giving her a bottle and she passed out after. Turned on white noise pretty loud and she slept in pnp for 5 hrs! Fussed once but I was able to pat her back to sleep.
After feeding though she only made it for another 2 hrs. I did the same thing for her morning nap (swaddle+white noise) and got about 20-30 min of peace and quiet haha. But I don't think I'm gonna do that for every nap...
Now I'm wondering when I can pump to replace that bottle of milk!

@winniebee: That's useful that your husband is a doctor!
@whenoceansrise: Yeah, I guess I could just call and ask.
@MrsF: That's what I was thinking too. He's been nursing fine and having plenty of wet diapers and seems in a decent mood. It's just in the morning he's fairly congested, so I've been using the NoseFrida on him. My husband is just concerned that he'll develop pneumonia or something because Xander did once.
@snowjewelz: That's a great stretch of sleep!

@AngelicOne: Hope you get that stretch super soon!@snowjewelz: Awesome
honeydew / 7283 posts
@snowjewelz: that's great! We do swaddle and white noise and in the r'n'p for night and all naps. It's a pain but I think the consistency is helpful as they become more aware of their surroundings.

@Adira: G is congested too........I play it up to the heater on because I can't really suck anything out of her.... little snot here and there... but she kinda has always been a stuffy babe!!!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@Adira: yeah. I think it would be important to see the dr if things get worse and you think it might be pneumonia, but there's nothing they can really do to prevent it beforehand. That must have been horrible with Xander
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsF: good point! I did up swaddling as long as she isnt passed out already from nursing. I think the loud white noise really helps her.. I didn't realize all the other noise, however light to us are prob distractions for her!

@FaithFertility: have your DH try it haha. I have no suction power!
Anyone noticing week 8 developments? I just saw that it's a wonder week. K is def finding her fingers and "talking" more and more.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MrsF: That's what I figure - there's nothing they can do to help him now except maybe give me advice on how to help him, but I already feel like I'm doing everything I need to and can do.
@snowjewelz: Logan's been searching for his thumb lately, haha. He hasn't gotten into into his mouth to suck on successfully yet though. And he's been cooing more, but not a ton.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@snowjewelz: J gets his fingers or thumb in his mouth but sometimes gags himself. He's had more luck sucking on his entire fist lately

@snowjewelz: Will do so funny when I was given that for my baby shower I thought ewww no way .........now I am like Give me that thing....lol
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsF: haha as aw poor thing! Yeah mine takes in the while thing when she can't figure it out lol!
@FaithFertility: hahaha! I have preseed from TTC days, wonder if I should just use that!
I'm just laying around doing nothing bc Kara decides to take her long nap now.. I was afraid to do anything thinking she's wake up soon!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Logan did that to me today too! He took a two hour nap when I wasn't expecting it!! These babies are so unpredictable.

@snowjewelz: he will likely come home with several tubes. I know he will go home with his ostomy still, maybe a feeding tube, and maybe his dialysis setup. But if it means we can take him home, I'll take it!
@FaithFertility: thank you!

G just took a 4 Oz bottle from DH her biggest one yet, I've only given her 2-3, she ate it like a champ
I need to pump more I've been lazy I only have like 3 4-5oz bags in freezer........
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: me too. I need to get pumping again if I'm gonna start giving her a bottle at night and for at least the first few days of work!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@MrsScallop: So glad they were able to clear his PD catheter fairly easily. I hope the day that you get to take him home comes quickly - tubes and all.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@FaithFertility: Soooooo adorable!!!
@MrsScallop: Thinking of you and Charlie!

I've been so worried about J refusing bottles (he's really been fighting them). I pumped and then had DH give it to him immediately today and he took it really well! Makes me think that maybe the temperature of the milk is the problem and that when he had what I had just pumped it was pretty close to body temp. I'm so relieved because I'm back to work in less than 3 weeks.
Anyone have any tips for warming? DH has been putting the bottles it in a cup of hot water but I'm assuming he's not getting it warm enough.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MrsF: My milk is in bags I heat a bowl of water in microwave for 2 mins and thaw frozen milk...takes about 3 mins.....usually is room temp by then
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsF: I have a bottle warmer only bc someone gave it to me.
Night 2 of nursing (no bottle tonight), swaddled and white noise.. Fingers cross we get a good stretch. now pumping so I can at least replace the bottle she drank last night..,

We have a bottle warmer too. It's a kiinde koozi and can even heat bags of milk or food for older babies. We bought it while I was pumping, but still use it for formula. It's a little on the pricey side, but we liked the flexibility it offered.
Never had one with C!

We are delousing! C has head lice. She's been itching her head for a couple of days. I kept looking for lice, but her hair is so long and shiny (and our lighting sucks!) that I couldn't see it. This is not fun.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: oh no! I remember having lice.. It really isn't fun! Where did she get it from! I hope none of you guys got it!
Ugh tonight is a dud so far. Maybe we put her to bed too early.. She woke up after an hr, I thought she was fussy and put her back down and then she woke up again! So I gave her a bottle and hopefully she wil go down soon..
pomelo / 5298 posts
@snowjewelz: we suspect it came from daycare. Her class will all be checked tomorrow. It wasn't any fun combing her long hair. Not to mention she needs a trim, the ends are splitting.

@MrsF: dh will warm milk from the bags, so even I'd it is already bottled, he will pour the milk back into a bag and warm it in a cup of hot water, much faster for him than trying to warm the bottle when a hungry baby is screaming. Ethan will fuss if the bottle isn't warm enough.@MamaG: oh no! Not fun!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MamaG: Ugh, that sucks about the lice!
@MrsF: We have a bottle warmer.
@snowjewelz: I hope you all are sleeping!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: eh, tonight didn't go well! Did the exact same thing as last night but she was fussy so I ended up bring into bed and she did almost 5 hrs. Just fed her and put her back in pnp...
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
This cold Logan has makes "mornings" brutal. After his MOTN feed, he's up every 30 minutes super congested and needing his nose sucked. I get almost 0 sleep after the MOTN feed. I'm so tired!

Sorry I've been MIA. Nothing exciting here. D sleeps like a dream. B is sleeping better. I'm working on redecorating our playroom. Tomorrow DH is off and he's taking B to auto show.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: aw man I'm sorry! I hope he gets over it assp!
@BandDmommy: what a cute daddy and son date! And so glad D is such a good sleeper!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@Adira: awww I'm sorry, we braught a humidifier into our room last night hopefully that helped G, we shall see her nose is dry......
