@BandDmommy: so happy to be home but it's tough not being able to do anything for myself and LO. I hope the perinatologist is going to tell me that I can be a little more active than just sitting on the couch and driving to doc appointments. I hope to be able to take LO to school myself and go on outings where I can sit the entire time (play gym or in home play dates with friends). And where I can do some light meal prep - make a sandwich, cut some fruit and feed LO her meals reheated. We'll see.
Just lots of appointments lined up and meeting with specialists. I go twice a week to my primary OB for monitoring and to see him for a check up and once a week to MFM for more monitoring and scans to check fluid/kidneys.
We met with the pediatric nephrologist yesterday who advised us about plan of care for baby when she comes out - scary things like feeding tubes, dialysis, and management of her kidney daily treatment. We also learned about the process of getting a kidney transplant for her and when we can expect that process to start. So much depends on how long she stays in there, if her lungs are developed, how big she is when she comes out (under 4lbs and they can't really so anything for her) and what her kidney function is when she comes out.
The pediatric urologist does phone appointments with me as he monitors her kidney development to diagnose what's wrong with her kidneys and he is the one that will ultimately do any surgical procedures/transplants
My mom has this week off while we figure out our plans about what our new normal is going to look like. She goes back to work next week to talk about taking an extended leave with her supervisors. We shall see. My in-laws will help in the meantime and DH will work from home on the days they can't be here (MIL had a stroke almost 20 years ago and can't do much with LO or meal prep but she can help with laundry - she's mastered folding clothes with one hand and FIL is retired but still does contract work here and there).
I'm glad to be home of course and just trying to take it one day at a time. I sometimes feel like I'm in a horrible dream and while I hear everything the doctors are saying I keep thinking she is going to be born just fine in December when really we are looking at a really sick baby coming any day now. They don't think they will let me go past 36 weeks bc of the low fluid.

@theotherstark: sorry to hear! Unisom worked for me last time but not so much lately!

@theotherstark: We don't even do Christmas cards, lol. My mom does it so we just put ourselves in that photo haha!
@sandy: Sending prayers your way. The road ahead is rocky, I'm glad you have a good support system in place for what may come. I am praying that nothing else goes south for the remainder of the pregnancy and that your LO will not be affected too much by what's going on!

@theotherstark: I don't think it's horrible! Your family/friends will probably prefer to see pics of the baby anyway than receive a timely Christmas card!
@sandy: Oh honey... thank you for taking the time to update us. We've all been thinking about you and your little one. This all sounds so scary and I can only imagine how hard this must all be for. For your sake and the sake of the baby, I hope you're able to continue as is for a few more weeks so she's big enough for surgery and whatever else she might need when she's born. Praying so hard that everything turns out okay in the long run.

@sandy: thanks so much for updating us. You are dealing with so much right now and I just wish that was not the case. Have you thought about hiring a part time nanny or mothers helper to help ease the stress a bit? Sitting and not doing much for yourself and your LO is so difficult and frustrating but its the best and only thing you can do right now. Xxoo

@whenoceansrise: @Adira: @snowjewelz: We are doing maternity/family October 19th... don't have outfits picked out yet though, was thinking possibly dark blue and orange for colors, jeans, scarf, sweater, boots for me... Our photographer is amazing and only charges $80 for family/maternity.
I'm not sure what to do with the photos though since baby hopefully will be born with plenty of time for me to get christmas cards made. Was thinking I could use them with the thank you cards from the shower, but since the shower is Oct. 4th I hate to wait that long between. Or I may do a postcard with the family photo on one side and baby on the other. (I'm a graphic designer so not like I don't have options!)
My mom ordered our crib on Monday, expecting it Friday.
We are also in a reno-nightmare, started an addition (new kitchen/living) in May and STILL waiting for completion. Right now we're waiting on the electrician. Ugh.
I found some cute fabric on etsy that I want to use for my 'woodland' theme... a leaf pattern to recover a toybox seat and a tree/deer pattern to hopefully have one of the grandma's make a crib skirt.
@Sandy: So sorry for what you are going through with baby. Praying for the best possible outcome!

@josina: $80 is an awesome price! Jealous!!
And those fabrics are gorgeous! I can't wait to see the end results of what you do with them!

@Adira: I just deleted the photos since they were HUGE and I can't figure out how to downsize... I may repost in the nursery board. Thanks!! Now just to get one of the grandma's on board with this crib skirt construction, lol.

@josina: wow, that's cheap!
@sandy: big hugs. You and your family are in my thoughts.

@sandy: Ahh, such a scary situation. Thank you so much for updating us. I imagine it must be really frustrating not doing much, but you and baby need to take it easy! I am keeping you guys in my thoughts, and continuing to hope for the best possible outcome. It sounds like you have a great team of physicians and a good support system with your family.

@josina: I agree with @BandDmommy: to post on the nursery boards! It doesn't matter that they're huge!

Has anyone found maternity leggings they like? I bought some at motherhood maternity but I'm not in love with them.

@theotherstark: new years cards!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@BandDmommy: I have hand me down ones from pea in a pod and I like them! And I'm currently sporting jeggings from Walmart. Basically, anything soft with full panel makes me happy!
@josina: I love the idea of the dual side Christmas card!
Are birth announcement cards popular in your families/circles? I've gotten them for everyone that have given birth this year so far so now I feel like I have to send it too!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Birth announcement cards seem very hit or miss among my family/friends! Actually, I guess they don't seem overly popular. None of my friends sent one. A couple family members have though and I did for my first, so I'm planning on doing one for my second. I really like having it, but it was stressful to put it together and mail them out at the time!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: If I do it I'll prob make my mom do it for me haha! I'm also the kind who does evites for her bridal/baby showers... While many people I know still send an actual invitation! Which is so nice but I'm just lazy!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: haha, you could always design a birth announcement and then just send the jpg via e-mail!
nectarine / 2053 posts
@snowjewelz: I have actually never received a birth announcement card. We aren't planning on sending them!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: That's how I did our save the dates! That is quite brilliant!
@whenoceansrise: I'm glad it's not a thing where you are! Less work to do
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@snowjewelz: I'm just going to do a joint Christmas card/birth announcement thing. Kill two birds with one stone, and all that You could always do an electronic birth announcement? Those are fun.

@winniebee: we have thought about hiring someone to do part time care for LO - like get LO up and ready for school and then run errands and so light housework for me and do pick up and lunch and nap. And then my mom can come over for a few hours until DH gets home. I like this idea bc it's easier to boss someone around that you're paying. My mom group keeps offering to take over and rotate care for LO and do meal drop off but I just want to use them as a back up plan when we need last minute care. And of course my inlaws and parents keep saying that between them they can figure it out. And of course we can pay to put LO in school more days a week for longer but she's still 2 and I don't want to do that while she's adjusting to all the other stuff. We'll see what they say today at my appointment and maybe i can start doing a little more for myself and will only need help a few hours a day and not all day.
@snowjewelz: @BandDmommy: I have the motherhood maternity ones too and they stretch out so easily. Good to know the pea in a pod ones are better!
Our maternity session was scheduled for the 26th and I have no idea what's going to happen with those. I want to have family photos and photos of LO but it's such a stressful time now and I haven't had the energy to think about outfits and we'd probably just have to have them taken at home. I'll have to figure that out
@snowjewelz: most of our friends do send out birth announcements. Last time LO was born in November so we did a combo birth announcement and Christmas cards. We used mint.com and loved how thick the paper was - we did a folded card with her photo on the front and photos from her newborn session on the inside and a message from us on the inside.

It has been quiet, but I am glad to see us all here again! I haven't had too much to report yet. I am at 27 weeks (almost - officially on Friday), with a growth ultrasound and glucose test tomorrow and another cardiologist appointment on Friday to see if we can get more answers about baby boy's heart defect(s). I have definitely been feeling more and more like I am in the depths of the third tri with how tired I am and feel a bit of a waddle coming on already. I can't imagine what I will be like in 2-3 more months!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsScallop: I had been waddling over the summer already b/c my thighs stuck together and was uncomfortable

@whenoceansrise: I agree, I am so not ready for December! Can we make time go more slowly? There is way way waaaay too much to get done!
@BandDmommy: Sorry you are having issues with contractors! House work can be so stressful, on top of watching a toddler and being in the third tri!
@winniebee: Sorry things have been rough for you too! I am terrified of the 2 year molars. We are nearing the end of our canine battle (from the last month or so) and feel like we will just be starting up again with those molars soon.

@sandy: Thanks for the update! I know what you mean about feeling like you are in a dream. When they are still inside and moving around, they feel so healthy! I have found planing everything I can makes me feel so much better about the road ahead, so I am glad to see you have a lot of support with your doctors so you can have a good game plan going forward. I am wishing you all the best and hope that baby girl gets to stay put for a good long while longer!
@josina: That is an amazing deal for photos! We likely won't be doing any this time around. Too many other time (and financial) commitments to worry about!
@snowjewelz: We did a combination birth announcement/Christmas card with Lo#1 (Her birthday is Dec 11), but I doubt we will do one this time. Maybe after he is out of the hospital we will think about it.
persimmon / 1328 posts
@snowjewelz: Aw, yeah, I did that too a bit! But now my hips just ache, so it is only getting worse. DH has even commented on how I look very pregnant with my fancy new waddle walk. Oh well!
pomelo / 5660 posts
@snowjewelz: we did a birth announcement for B. My family is very southern and traditional.

@sandy: I am praying for you! Sounds like you have a good support system going! I can't imagine how you feel, but you sound I good spirits, I pray baby stays strong and you stay healthy too!!!!!!

@josina: I like the christmas/babay announcent idea!
@snowjewelz: Yeah I have got one for every babe born close to us, I plan on doing them too!
@MrsScallop: Prayers your ultrasound looks great! I feel the waddle coming tooo

GD test Friday..... I'm sure I'll be ok, but ya never know, tried to eat super healthy this week which I know really is no help... but I'm hoping I HATE needles!!!
We also booked a 4D ultrasound for next Thursday I am soo excited! I was going to go around my bday Oct but the nurse said really now is prime time 27-30 weeks.... baby looks like baby but is not super squished in there yet!
DH bday is next week too, he kinda sets of the bday/holiday madnesss that is in my family and that gibes me anxiety becasue i feel like it will go soooo fast!!
Sept: DH bday
Oct: Dads bday, my bday, sisters bday, halloween
Nov: Our anniversary, BIL bday, baby shower, Thanksgiving
Dec: BIL bday, nieces bday, and then........our Baby girl!!! Christmas, niece bday, stepdads bday......
Yep we get pretty busy
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MrsScallop: Is your glucose test today? Good luck! Mine is tomorrow!
@snowjewelz: I've been waddling too! And people keep asking me when I'm due and then are shocked I still have three more months!
@FaithFertility: Mine's on Friday too! Good luck to us both!! And we also have crazy birthdays coming up. Hubs just had his birthday (which I managed to pull off despite forgetting about it until the day before) and then our anniversary is in October, nephew's birthday and Thanksgiving in November, and BOTH my parents birthdays plus Christmas plus the birth of baby boy in December! And then my birthday is right around the corner in January and Xander's birthday is in February! It's going to be BUSY!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@Adira: Yes, you too!!!!
Bring in the last 3 crazy months!!!!!!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: It actually would help! It's kinda "faking it", but I wish I knew to control my blood sugar prior to the test, maybe I would have passed. But then again, if I had faked it and then go back to my normal eating habits then I'm probably endangering mine and LO's health!
And now I'm going to ask for a 3D at my appt tomorrow! Last time they showed her 3D she looked like golum from LOTR
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: Good to know, I feeln like I don't eat bad, but.....whatever works...lol
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: For me it's not even an eating bad issue b/c my fasting # is always high and that's something I can't control. Best of luck, I hope everyone passes with flying colors b/c GD is really annoying!
