Ugh why won’t this thread refresh a new page?! It’s so poorly maintained these days 😑

  5. mediagirl

    hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts

@LindsayInNY: it's not maintained at all. I reached out to mrbee about this being a problem for a while, he responded about it but then I never heard back. It's really disappointing. It's a great place to talk but when there are issues, it's a pita.

  6. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@mediagirl: Yeah I asked for additional due date threads because they used to auto-start by a generic account (in case something happened to OP, etc). I don’t know if it’s them being across the world, personal issues, more resort stuff... but it’s sad and frustrating. I feel like page refreshes should automatically happen?

@LindsayInNY: I would love to hear an official statement from Mr and Mrs Bee in what's going on. Some of us rely on these threads as support lifelines during terrible times.

@LindsayInNY: I think it's a combo of a lot of things. I know they got one of the bloggers to help out keeping the blog moving but I'm not sure if anyone is moderating the boards anymore. There's no direction/information for us hostesses at this point.

Anyone doing anything fun to announce? Family or friends?

  10. Emmalina

    pea / 22 posts

@lindsayinny no announcement plans - potentially considering a big brother tee but not a bit Facebook / social media person so would just use for friends and wider family

Was meant to have our NIPT results back - but the test failed. So back to waiting. Combined test was good though so trying to decide if to announce now or wait till we get the rest of the results back. thoughts?

Due date updated to 4 Dec too..

    @Emmalina: Test failed?! How?

  12. Emmalina

    pea / 22 posts

@lindsayinny Apparently in 3% of cases they can't detect enough foetal DNA - annoying especially as it takes so long as it's done in the US

Got my results back today! That was so fast, I answered the phone call and was not expecting it! Everything is negative. We did find out gender but I'm waiting a bit to announce that online. I'll update soon. 😊

@Emmalina: I was just chatting with my friend last week and she said this happened to her 3 times with her pregnancy! She never did end up getting the test results because it was failing over and over. Will you repeat? If so hopefully it works this time

@mediagirl: How exciting! So glad to hear all went well!

Update from me that we had our NT scan last Friday and the measurements all indicated a healthy pregnancy. The blood draw took 3 tries and 2 people because even though I told the first nurse I give blood well and am not squeamish she was using this little baby needle and it was not working The second nurse used the normal size and boom, done in less than a minute. Hopefully we have results back this week but with the holiday the MFM doc said there might be delays.

We have our gender scan scheduled for 6/14. I need to check and see if my daughter can come with because she REALLY wants to join me for an appointment and 'hear the baby' and I think she would be fascinated and that it would be really special for her to be there when we find out what we're having. Both my hubs and I are still thinking it's a girl, just because that's what we already have

We haven't announced online or to most of our extended family/friends yet. I think we'll wait till the gender scan and announce on Father's Day to make it a little extra special.

  17. MrsMom

    kiwi / 568 posts

@lindseykaye: Sounds like things are moving along great for you. So exciting to get to know the gender soon! Are you getting it done at a private facility or through the Drs office? I'm pretty sure at the private places they let anyone you want come. We also think we're having a boy because we already have one LOL.

My update.....Most nausea is gone and boobs are less sore (which honestly has me freaking out a bit). I really don't remember when I started feeling better last time because I wasn't too sick then so I tried reading up and it didn't help my anxiety. I'm trying to stay calm and tell myself it's because the placenta is taking over but....UGH next Wednesday's US can't come soon enough!

Also my insurance approved the NIPT test with no copay since we have some family history. DH doesn't want to do it and I'm on the fence. I have all the paperwork if I decide to do it, I just don't know. Do they call you with the results or do you get a letter? Can I decide to get the results later?

  18. lindseykaye

    pear / 1992 posts

@MrsMom: Yes, we're doing it as an extra scan they offer through my practice. I hadn't actually considered it before, but when she found out my mom was coming with to my NT scan (where kids are specifically not allowed at the entire MFM office) she was upset and I thought, hey maybe she can come to the gender scan? I don't think she is allowed at the anatomy scan either but don't have a clue why I remember that. I know she would be welcome to any midwife appointment to listen to the baby's heartbeat which was her original request, but these appts. are back-to-back (and she's going to be out of school and home with hubs already) so it would be convenient.

  19. lindseykaye

    pear / 1992 posts

@MrsMom: Forgot to ask - is there a specific reason your husband does not want the NIPT testing? I know many couples skip it because they have come to the decision that they want to continue a pregnancy regardless of potential chromosomal or health indications that might be revelaled through this testing. Is that him? If so, I would want to be firmly on the same page about it before moving forward if it's something you do want.

  20. MrsMom

    kiwi / 568 posts

@lindseykaye: I know at mine they do all the measurements and things they have to do first, then at the end they will let 2 people in for a few minutes to see the baby. Although when I scheduled my NT scan they said there would be no family time after the scan so IDK. I would think they would expect people with you at a specified gender scan.

And yes He does want to proceed with the pregnancy regardless. I'm the same to an extent. If it's a very very bad chromosomal issue then I think I could come to the very hard decision but he will not. We talked about it for a little bit and at first he was ok with it. I think part of the problem is I'm very anxious this time around because of everything I went through last time and he's trying to keep me grounded, but at this point I don't think having the test or not having it would help my anxiety any. I've hit the week where things started going bad with my son so I'm already pretty uptight.

Our NT scan went well! Just confirmed the genetic testing results really. Between a too full bladder and a tilted uterus, she ended up doing a vaginal ultrasound and some 3D images! So so cool!

  22. lindseykaye

    pear / 1992 posts

@LindsayInNY: Too full bladder? Oh goodness I know they wanted mine full and told me to drink 16 oz of fluid before my appt. by the time I was back for the actual scan and she was pushing all over my belly I was dying to go. She had a hard time getting the fetus to lay flat enough for the measurement, and I honestly thought it might be squished from my bladder
What a cool keepsake though to have that 3D image! Glad it's gone well.

@MrsMom: How are you feeling? Been thinking of ya

  23. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@lindseykaye: I probably could’ve peed and still had a full bladder! She took one look and was like yeah you need to empty it lol. Came back and decided vaginal would be easier. The images are so much better that way so I don’t know why they don’t always do that!

  24. MrsMom

    kiwi / 568 posts

@LindsayInNY: I LOVE this picture!! So cute and such a great shot! Glad everything went well. I dread having to have a full bladder for the US.

@lindseykaye: Thanks for asking. I talked with DH last night and we decided to go ahead and have it done for peace of mind and or prepare for something. I woke up this morning and had a sense of peace about doing it so I really felt like it was the right decision, so I had it drawn this morning along with my other labs. They said I should have the results by next Friday and I have my NT scan next Wednesday . My anxiety has calmed down....for the moment LOL.

We had the NT scan on a Wednesday and everything looked great! I also met with MFM on Tuesday. My bloodwork came back for my preeclampsia baseline levels and all are normal so no need for a 24 hour urine collection! Waiting for the first trimester bloodwork. My MIl wants to know the gender so bad she offered to pay for the early 3D/4D ultrasound at one of those separate places 😂. I don’t think she was kidding so I may see if I can wiggle that!

  26. mediagirl

    hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts

    @LindsayInNY: that is amazing!!
@Christy412: oh I would so do that if mil was paying!! Ha!
@MrsMom: glad your anxiety had eased a bit!
@LindsayInNY: uh... Because of the giant wand up the vag. 😂

Who else is over 35? Does your OB do the anatomy scan or do they send you to a specialist? I have an appt with a specialist for my ultrasound. I guess they want to be extra careful with the 35+ mama's? That will be in July for me.

  27. yellowbeach

    nectarine / 2648 posts

@mediagirl: The MFM in the same practice did our anatomy scan for our last pregnancy. It was nice bc when they found a kidney abnormality, she could tell us exactly what it meant right then and there. (40 in 2 weeks, 38 at that time)

  28. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@mediagirl: I’ll be 35 when I deliver. My OB office actually doesn’t do any scans on site (except early vaginal ones), I don’t think. I know NT and anatomy are done elsewhere. But she mentioned a 36 week appointment scan so I don’t know where that is done.

I’m a bit fearful they’re going to slip on the sex. Especially because they know from NIPT results. The doctor said she would have them note somewhere not to say because I said I was afraid someone would mention it, thinking I already knew.

Also I saved a lot of my daughters clothes. She was worn end of June. So basically most of them won’t even work for a December baby! Duh 🤦‍♀️ I don’t even know what to buy for an unknown sex baby.

@LindsayInNY: Lurking again. I had a lot of grey, white, yellow, bright colored onesies. Carters, Cloud Island (target), and Burts Bees Baby (TJ Maxx and Target) was the majority of my sons first 3-6 months of clothes because we were Team Green.

ETA: I had 12 ultrasounds by the time I had my son, I found the tech was better than my doctor at not using pronouns. My doctor didn't know that it was a boy, but he would always use the gender of his last appointment because he tried not to use "it"

Hi Ladies! I’m new to the group! My best friend suggested I join the due date board (she really loved connecting with other women during her pregnancy), so here goes:

    Location: Minneapolis,MN
    EDD: 12/8/18
    First Child: yes!
Any symptoms: YES! Nausea + vomiting. Vomiting has greatly decreased since about week 10. Was horrible weeks 7-10. Headaches!! Fatigue (weeks 4-10 were the worst, also getting better now), sore breasts. Emotional- especially in the first few weeks!
Who have you told: all close family and friends know by now. As does work (because I’m an Oncology RN- I can refuse administering chemo therapy to patients during my pregnancy so chose to notify work almost immediately after I peed on the stick)
Current thoughts/feelings: I’m very excited but am nervous about a couple things:
1.) my first ultrasound said I have a bicorunate or septal uterus (you need an MRI for definitive diagnosis but ultrasound can tell that it’s one of these shapes). Worried about potential pregnancy complications.
2.) lots of life changes/lots going on: I work part time, am in nurse practitioner school, have a side job teaching (only once every other week), am teaching a nursing course this fall (yes, I am crazy), husband looking for new job, and we need to move because we live in a 1br condo! Just hoping everything falls in to place but feeling very overwhelmed/stressed!!

Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

@ChillMama86: Welcome to the group! Glad to have another December mama join us

Glad you're starting to feel better and I hope all your upcoming plans and changes go smoothly! It's a strange spot to be in with so much unknown ahead - but how exciting to be having your first. We have a few more first time mamas here who might be able to relate, and those of us who have been there before can offer an ear to listen

@MrsMom: So glad you guys were able to come to an agreement and that you'll have your results so soon. Happy healthy thoughts your way!

I finally called my midwife group last week to ask about attendees to the gender scan and they let me know anyone can attend - so looks like my daughter gets her wish to 'see the baby' and will be able to come with us when we find out what it is! Scheduled for the afternoon of the 14th which I know will come fast but right now feels SO far away.

Having to do some stressful financial planning this weekned as my husbands car needs a repair that costs more than the car is worth. Not something we expected any time soon, so it's thrown me for a little bit of a loop emotionally when coupled with the fact that we ended up choosing to keep our daughter at her current school which means a new tuition cost next year (VPK was free but elementary has tuition). Sigh, it'll work out, but I don't love being in the thick of it. We decided to cancel our 10-yr anniversary splurge hotel stay for this fall in favor of a shorter, less-fancy night away. That also was kind of a bummer but just makes much more financial sense considering everything else going on.

@mediagirl: I was two weeks shy of being AMA last pregnancy and this one I'll be 37 at delivery and all my ultrasounds are done in office. They said depending on how things go there might be more monitoring this time around but as of right now I'm pretty much on the same schedule as a non AMA mom. My friend who is a couple years older and is currently pregnant also gets her US done at her doctors office but her clinic is a LOT large then mine and has a bunch of specialist on staff. Like if I ended up needing a specialist I'd probably be referred to her office.

@ChillMama86: Welcome to the boards I'm a Nov mom but I lurk in the Oct & Dec threads. It's a lot of fun 'hanging' out with moms who are due around the same time as you.

Hi Ladies! Thank for the welcome to the group. I know some of you have mentioned NIPT and first trimester screening... I'm wondering what the under 35 mamas have done as far as screening? I went for the nuchal/ultrasound and associated blood draw for trisomies today. Nuchal looked good. Baby was laying face down and wouldn't turn for a profile view...I even got up and literally ran in circles around the room to get the baby to move but he/she wouldn't budge They said I could do a NIPT at any point if I want, but my insurance won't cover it since I'm under 35 and low risk. They said my husband and I could also do single gene carrier screening as well (Counsyl), but that isn't covered for either of us ;/ I'm 32 and the only family history on either side is one cousin with autism... somehow I'm still nervous even though I know the statistics are in my favor. Wondering what others did or did not do?

I attached some pics too! It's so crazy to see how big and developed the baby is getting!! I had one previous ultrasound at 7w3d, and baby was just a tiny blob at that point. I'm totally in awe!!

  37. lindseykaye

    pear / 1992 posts

@ChillMama86: I'm also 32 and opted for the NT scan and blood screen as our only genetic testing. We don't have any family history either so like you nothing would be covered by insurance. I did the same with my last pregnancy, except we didn't even get the NT scan combo because that wasn't covered for us either back when I had my first! I don't know how I did not worry about it, but all was well.

Just got my own results back from the NT scan - measurements were acceptable and the blood screen came back with low/no risk. Excited to get to see the baby again next week - fingers crossed it cooperates for the gender scan lol. Then I'll have my 20-week scan and appt. and it'll likely be the last ultrasound of my pregnancy.

Now I need to start thinking of a special 'reveal' for our family/friends. There are still so many who we haven't told since we were waiting for test results and then figured we'd wait for the gender. Gonna browse pinterest for some ideas tonight I think.

@ChillMama86: I was 33 when I delivered last time and never considered extra testing. Honestly, I'm not sure the NIPT was a thing back then? I was glad to have it this time, though. The only extra thing I did then was a 3D ultrasound.

@lindseykaye: exciting! So, you know the gender??

Got a letter from my insurance company yesterday stating they will cover the NIPT. That's a huge load off.

Pregnancy insomnia is in full effect. My body allows me 6 hrs sleep a night. Super!

@mediagirl: Not quite - our extra 'gender scan' is next Thursday afternoon. Very excited! I think I will tie the general 'we're having another baby' and gender reveal to Father's Day which is the following weekend. We'll tell our families first by phone and then post online that weekend.

Awesome news about insurance! That sure takes a weight off
